Fallingstar

I had a big crush on Anthony Head and loved the coffee ad romance as well as watching him in Buffy.
Too young to go.
Thoughts are with his family 💐

He WAS the actor in the long-running coffee ads?

Beg your pardon Georgesgran. My mistake and you are quite right. Thanks for correcting me. 😀

Georgesgran Sat 06-Jun-26 13:07:19

Just a quick correction Grandmabatty it was Sharon Maughan in the Nescafé Gold Adverts (she’s the wife of Trevor Eve - remember Shoestring?) Susan Maughan is a singer, born in County Durham.

Very sad news anyway - 71 isn’t old these days, but complications from pneumonia apparently.

Anthony Head wasn't in Yes Minister. He was in Little Britain playing a politician so that's maybe what you are thinking of

He wasn’t very old, what a shame. He was so good in ‘Yes, minister’, very believable. Nice man.

I didn't know he'd died. How sad. I did like his acting - AND he was good looking!

I always loved him; he was a great actor and an incredibly nice man too, very respected. He was brilliant as King Uther Pendragon in Merlin.

RIP, Anthony and thanks for the entertainment.

I loved him in Buffy ,I used to watch it with my then teenage children . He was also great in Ted Lasso .

RIP 💐

A good actor x

71 is nothing these days - he was youthful looking
too, a good sport, especially as Prime Minister.

Did Murray Head write for Honey in the sixties?
as a man about town with a flat at Worlds End ?

He was in Sunday Bloody Sunday, so depressing.

I remember Sharon Maughan in the coffee ads.,
elegant and composed.

It came as a bit a shock to be honest. RIP.

Bukkie

Still a heartthrob at 72. What a sad time for his two daughters who lost their Mum too in December 2025. I loved him in Little Britain playing the part of the Prime Minister.

Me too!

Cossy Fri 05-Jun-26 20:26:18

Sad to hear and no real age at 72. I liked him. RIP flowers

71 seems very young these days. I always enjoyed watching him. One of my friends used to go to Saturday morning art classes with his brother Murray when we were still at school. Anthony and Murray's mother used to play Madame Maigret in the Rupert Davies series.

Liked him in Buffy👍🏻

So sad to hear this news and to read that his wife died six months ago 💐

MT62 Fri 05-Jun-26 18:52:17

Ahh really. Liked him in little Britain 🇬🇧

Loved the coffee adverts at the time. Very good looking actor and 71 is so young. RIP

grannydarkhair Fri 05-Jun-26 18:39:49

Such a good looking man. I especially liked him in Buffy and he was very watchable and believable as a real bad ‘un in Ted Lasso. Coincidentally both characters were called Rupert.
RIP

His wife died at the end of last year too. Apparently it was complications after pneumonia

Oh how sad, I was also a fan and I agree far too young. His brother Murray is also an actor but not so well known.
Both heartthrobs in younger years.

Grandmabatty Fri 05-Jun-26 17:29:01

I've just seen his death announced at 71. I liked him very much as an actor- the coffee advert with Susan Maugham, Buggy and Dr Who come to mind. Far too young. RIP
