I need something to watch. I've just finished The Boroughs which I really liked

MissAdventure Wed 03-Jun-26 13:46:23

Amy Bradley is missing has stayed with me since i watched it on netflix.
Again, based on a true event !nd absolutely baffling.

I'm a gritty crime fan too.

I watched Everwood and really enjoyed it. I never read Anne of Green Gables when I was you so I didn't think I would enjoy Anne with an E but I gave it a go and now I'm in the middle of the second season.
My DH is actually following it which is unusual as I didn't think he'd be interested.

I read Anne of Green Gables and loved those books.

MissAdventure

I fought the law.
Played by Sheridan Smith.
I think it was a four parter, based on real life, and in collaboration with woman she plays.

I really, really enjoyed it.

Oh thank you, I was going watch this and could not remember what it was called!!

I like gritty or crime dramas if anyone has anything else like this??

MT62 Wed 03-Jun-26 13:07:01

Just on with ‘homicide New York’
About two detective squads.
I was going to cancel NF but glad I came on this thread as I now have a list of dramas & films to watch 😀

Yellow stone & film sequels

Ì had to check that it was really Sheridan Smith playing Ann's part.
I'm no fan of actors or celebs, but she totally immersed me into the storyline.

rayanrich Wed 03-Jun-26 10:35:35

Sheridan Smith was absolutely incredible as Ann Ming, and knowing Ann collaborated closely on the script made the whole thing hit so much harder. It’s mind-blowing to think one mother's determination actually forced a rewrite of an 800-year-old double jeopardy law.

rayanrich Wed 03-Jun-26 10:33:18

I completely agree about Mindhunter and Dark—both are absolutely brilliant and keep you glued to your seat!

There really is nothing worse than getting completely immersed in a gripping mystery or a tense thriller only to have the mood broken by sudden commercial breaks. If anyone else is watching on a basic plan and finding the constant disruptions frustrating, I found a really helpful guide on www.standsapp.org/blog/how-to-block-ads-on-netflix/ that shows you how to easily block those ad scripts on your browser. It makes binging these recommendations so much more enjoyable smile

Adding Legends and The Watcher to my watchlist next!

And Stranger Things, to keep up with the GD.

Another vote for Remarkably Bright Creatures.

Thanks for this thread JJ- I spend ages flicking through and never know what to watch. Been watching more Amazon Prime lately but will have another Netflix go.

I meant to say when I was young.

(I was referring to Apex in first line)

"Remarkably Bright Creatures" is on the list as "quirky but rewarding"

(anyone got a Magnum ice to help me have a late viewing session...)

Wyllow3 Tue 02-Jun-26 23:40:57

Oo, that was recommended to me as "had to binge watch", but when I peeped it looked very dark.

So what is Department Q about? sounds it could be my kind of thing?

PS for free on Amazon Prime -
"The modern Miss Fisher Mysteries"

"Ab Fab light viewing" series, anyone else tried that one?

REKA Tue 02-Jun-26 23:12:00

Remarkable Bright Creatures is brilliant. Couple of friends had recommended it to me. I read the blurb and it really didn't appeal but we were having a quiet Sunday afternoon so we have it a go.

Fabulous film, it really is.

Oreo Tue 02-Jun-26 23:10:45

Just watched Apex tonight, it’s very good, nail biting in fact.

Oreo Tue 02-Jun-26 23:10:04

A very good British film is I Came By. The lead role is played by the Earl of Grantham😁not a sunny kind of role!😲

Oreo Tue 02-Jun-26 23:08:32

Then you would enjoy Dark Magenta8 👍🏻

Magenta8 Tue 02-Jun-26 20:38:37

Oreo

Legends, The Boroughs, Stranger Things, Dark, Katla, and many more, in fact too many to mention.

Stranger Things is addictive. I loved it.

CanadianGran Tue 02-Jun-26 20:36:37

I've enjoyed Apex , Nyad, and the lighthearted series Fisk.

merlotgran Tue 02-Jun-26 20:31:06

Oops. Sorry. Wrong thread. 😂😂

merlotgran Tue 02-Jun-26 20:30:06

Funny you should say that. I was just thinking today that I’d love a little coffee machine for pods. I’m getting bored with instant decaff. 😂

merlotgran Tue 02-Jun-26 20:22:45

Just started The Boroughs and I’m loving it. I thought it would be a kind of American Thursday Murder Club which I wasn’t keen on but it’s so much better.
