Oh ferry23 I too miss his Sunday morning show and the Janet and John tales, my favourite being the one about John and his Twelve Finches at the local show!

I'm another one who listened to him every morning and missed him and his Janet & John stories so much. My daughter bought me the book of J&J tales which I still laugh out loud at.

I used to listen to Terry’s morning show as I got ready for work (I had slapping on full make up in a couple of minutes down to a fine art!) before I raced out for the 8:15 am bus into town. The Postman Pat theme tune used to feature regularly! Also loved Jimmy Young. Jeremy Vine has never really filled his shoes in that slot as far as I’m concerned.

I think Radio 2 is sadly lacking the gravitas it had in the days of Terry Wogan et al.

I turned it off the morning that the weather forecast reported a "keen" wind and Vernon Kaye was completely bemused and told us all he didn't know what it meant, and kept on and on asking what a keen wind was.

I sometimes listen at the weekend, and if I think of it, Lisa Tarbuck on Saturday evenings but gone are the days when it accompanied me through my day.

I remember fondly the days when Terry used to comment on the Shogun TV series. I would laugh out loud in the car on the way to work. Looking around at other drivers they would be doing the same.

Terry and Pauly (Waters) were a great double act. Both sadly missed for their warm and quick witted humour.

Oh how I agree, I adored Sir Tel, whose dry and dead pan humour often had me in stitches.

I had a long car journey to work for 10 years and Terry kept me company every morning. As others have said you could tell who was also listening to him by the laughter from their cars. He was the greatest DJ ever and will sadly be never matched. He was an absolute natural.

Sir Terry was such a great broadcaster and so down to earth. My children now in their 50s were brought up listening to him. All trips to school were accompanied by the Wogan show.
Still sadly missed , I agree with other posters when they say he will never be matched.

Oh the days of Terry and Steve Wright! Both sadly missed. I still listen to R2, pretty much by default as not found anything better. The daytime DJs are all “ok” but all dull and bland. Occasionally Vernon and Rylan make me smile but overall I think R2 has been dumbed down intentionally.

I love Rylan too, he is a natural wit. I love him and Rob Rinder together. I would like to see Rylan and Emma Willis hosting Strictly. But on the radio waves nobody can hold a torch to Sir Terry.

Terry was always someone who could make me chuckle, he was a warm and funny man who never had to resort to using the ‘F’ word or sexually explicit references in order to make people laugh. His voice was like a hug. And the Eurovision has never been the same, we used to tube in just to hear his witty and hilarious commentary.

As a professional driver I was fortunate enough to be on the road during Terry's morning show. One of the highlights was the Janet and John segment. Those tales were hilarious and Terry and John Marsh were a great double act. Absolutely brilliant.

I stopped listening to the Radio 2 breakfast show after he stepped down (I moved over to Radio 4).

Great memories of a wonderful presenter and wonderful man.

I don’t remember any Janet and John tales but always thought Terry Wogan was not only naturally very funny but charming too and very professional.When he covered Eurovision it was not to be missed.

There were many times I burst out laughing over Terry's comments while driving to work. One day I looked over and saw a couple in the car next to me - they were both laughing hard, too. I have no doubt we were listening to the same radio station.

I was in the audience for over 30 of his shows at the Radio Theatre in London, got there about 7am on a Sunday to guarantee entry, got to know loads of his fans, even managed to take an Ozzy friend who was visiting. Can honestly say some of the best entertainment ever, he was so great live

I used to enjoy his banter with Jimmy Young. It was an engaging radio broadcast, and Terry's humour was a great delight.

Every one of them just fabulous, lovely memories.

I've watched a number of his chat shows recently - the BBC have been 'throwing them up' occasionally.

I must just have spotted one and put it on 'Series Record' and I now get them automatically whenever they're broadcast.

And what about the marvellous Steve Wright, my faithful afternoon school run companion throughout the 1990s?

He appeared at the Baths disco in Scunthorpe ( my home town ) as the DJ . We saw Hot Chocolate there too . It was usually the swimming baths but boarded over for the dance night .

If you can get Greatest Hits, you will find some of the previous Radio 2 presenters on there - Ken Bruce is still doing PopMaster at 10.30am every weekday and my favourites - Simon Mayo with producer Matt - doing Drivetime at 4pm. You do have to tolerate lengthy ad-breaks, unfortunately, which was never an issue with the Beeb. And I completely concur that no-one could ever replace Terry
