Definitely one to go and see. Very moving, especially the relationship between Bernie and Irene, plus Adele and Irene.

I am going tomorrow afternoon.

Our little cinema was full. All older people.

It made me feel sad because it captures perfectly how you move, dress and think “old”. I cried at the scene where Bernie and Renee go to bed and have a kiss and hold hands.

One of the saddest days of my life was popping over to my parents when Dad was terminally ill and Mum was exhausted. They were about 86 and 83 respectively. It was after lunch and I found them in the middle bedroom in twin beds holding hands in their sleep and looking so very, very tired and ancient. It hit me then that things were about to change.

There were some funny scenes which lightened it a bit.
A lot of people were wiping their eyes as they left. 😢

The trailer I saw looked rather like the Harold Fry film.

I saw it. Think it was excellent. A fine ending to Michael Caine's and Glenda Jackson's careers too!

Sobbed through most of it. 🥲

NanKate So did I! I’m not sure why it moved me quite so much, but I emerged from the cinema feeling emotionally drained!

Saw it last werk, a very moving film and superb performances from the leading actors. The little cinema was full.

It's the true story, with some embellishments
It's based on a true story but with a lot of artistic licence, but that all made it into a wonderful film.

We went today and thoroughly enjoyed it, tissues are needed!

Wonderful acting by all, especially Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson.

Yes, the acting was wonderful.
I found it very emotional as in the scenes where Michael Caine wore his cap, he looked so like my Dad in his final years.
Also there must have been thousands of men who felt as his character did.

We saw it yesterday. I thought it was very good - it could easily have tipped over into being overly maudlin / sentimental, but the humour in the characters saved it from that. Those poor “boys” in the trenches - why does mankind have these horrendous wars?

We are looking forward to seeing it at some point. We were coming home on the ferry to Ouistreham one day when there were lots of veterans coming over for June 6th. One of them told us a lovely story about being given a glass of Calvados by a grateful local and thinking he had been poisoned by its fiery strength.
Our house still has bullet holes in it from August 1944. You never forget.
