The Lockerbie Bombing - The Reunion

I remember it so well. I was in the kitchen doing some Christmas cooking and listening to the local radio. the presenter of the programme was a friend. She had to interrupt the programme to read the news flashabout the disaster - and then continue. I do not know how she did it.

It was an exceptional episode. The reunion is a bit hit-and-miss.

"The kindness of strangers" springs to mind ... the way people in the area offered support and practical help..

Amongst all the pain, anger and heartache it felt to me that something positive in human nature was demonstrated here. I really felt I had witnessed something in listening this morning.
Thank you radio 4 - and thank you to the ordinary people of Lockerbie.

I knew people who lived in the same TV area as Lockerbie and there was a message flashed up on the screen asking for all staff to report to the hospital in Dumfries because of a serious incident. They said that the saddest thing was the subsequent notice saying to staff not to turn up. There were not going to be masses of casualties - they had all died.

I listened to this programme and found it very moving. I hadn't known how much effort the locals had put into retrieving, washing and mending the clothing and belongings of the victims before returning them to relatives, who are still welcomed on visits.

My sister and her 4 small boys live 4 miles away. The boys were playing in the garden and came running in because there was an earthquake!!!!!
