Thursday is exactly that the comforting best Dad figure. Sort of person who would stand by you whatever.

But on the husband side, also a man of his time? I was sort of begging him to "talk to her! say what you FEEL! to Win! when they were badly out of communication.

But remember the episode when the women he utterly fell in love with in Italy in the war re-appeared in Oxford? He was prepared to leave Win for her in a moment of it all flooding back.

(tho he found out in her suicide note that she had in fact betrayed her comrades to the enemy and was not totally the heroine he'd thought. S2 Episode 3)

Thursday dresses exactly as my Grandfather did in the 60s. I find him very comforting to look at.

Too cold and wet for any gardening or even seed sowing.

Yes, I love those bits. do you remember when he went to his daughter's flat and "saw off" the lover of his still v young offspring?

But my favourite "see them off" was the one I call showdown at the OK coral, when Thursday, Endeavour et al face a row of men with guns, and who should turn up but the Anton Lesser character with a huge number of "z" cars. It was the last in one of the series.

Fred must be well in his fifties by now. He might have been tough years ago, but think a few young gangsters would give him a bruising now though.

I caught up with the latest episode yesterday and 2 things don't ring true - when he didn't get to the pub in time to meet Joan, I don't think he would have just given up and stayed chatting to the reporter woman - he would have gone to her flat to see her.

And secondly, with all the ongoing danger, at the end he wouldn't have opened the door late at night without checking first to see who was outside.

There are other things too - Thursday wouldn't still be wearing that hat in the late 60s/early 70s. It's not 1940!

Wyllow I can't recall his name either (not doing too well here!) but he was attempting something dangerous in a pub with London thugs and they killed him - he was involved with the WPC. I get the awful feeling that Fred Thursday is going to be revealed as less than perfect, and involved somehow, or shot dead, or both.

Not as far back as series 2 though.
