The Larkins new Sunday nights.

I watched it and confess to being disappointed. Thought the plots were feeble, very unrealistic and dated. Didn't find the little bit of swearing in character at all. Will try agaiin

again next week as previous was a very hard act to follow and it is at least gentle compared to all the awful violence that is regularly on our screen in fact and fiction.

Ive recorded this, but not watched it yet.But didnt realise it had Bradley Walsh in- i can just about put up with him in game shows, but not sure ill be able to stomach him in a 'real' acting position- as someone said, he always seems to be just himself-so i shall see after first one..I hate them doing remakes (like prisoner cell block H, Randall &Hopkirk etc) they're just never the same. Even the Americans are doing it- only ones which seem better are McGyver and Magnum P.I

Yes! I just assumed I'd made a mistake. How on earth could they get that wrong without anyone on the set noticing?!

I loved the original , and expected to be disapointed with the remake .

Bradley Walsh is quickly becoming the 'Terry Wogan' of telly (too much exposure) which puts me off him.

I loved the original and still tune in to it now and again.
I didn’t like this at all everyone seems to be trying too hard and I’m afraid I’m Bradley Walshed out.
I agree Marietta seems badly cast as well. I’m afraid I won’t be watching it again once was enough.

Haven't watched it yet but did see a full page review of it introducing all the characters. Mariettas love interest is now to be played by a black actor which seems rather odd but then again Ann Boleyn was black. I am not being racist two of my granddaug hter are married to lovely black men and I have three mixed race greatgrandchildren.

I remember watching and loving the original Poldark way back. I was expecting to hate the remake, but to my astonishment absolutely loved it!! I haven't watched this remake,but I have a feeling that I wouldn't be a fan,having loved the original. All Creatures remake? No thank you!!

Yes Jabberwok, I agree that the Poldark remake was as good or even better than the original.

Perhaps the gorgeous Aidan Turner helped with that though?

Talking of Terry Wogan, I used to like him on Blankety Blank, but the new series with Bradley is a bit too chaotic for me and not as enjoyable.

i thoroughly the books so did not watch the previous series, and will not be watching this.
i find bradley walsh irritating and cannot imagine him as pop larkin, likewise david jason

When I was young I thought I'd like to be a continuity girl!
Perhaps there are no such jobs any more.
Obviously they needed to have employed some eagle-eyed Gransnetters on the set. ?

During the summer our Amateur Dramatic society put on an outdoor performance of ‘TheDarling Buds of May’ it was brilliant, we laughed throughout. I suspect the latest version won’t be half as good.

After only 10 minutes of it, I'd had enough. The acting wasn't good, the characters unbelievable. Pop Larkin was too trim, slim, smartly dressed. The worst bit - Charlie a black man. I'm all for including black/Asian/Chinese/any other ethnicity, but the character was played originally meant to be a white man, played by a white actor. It should have been left as such, and a different character could have been created, to include a black actor.

As for Enid (was that the name?)....oh dear.

Yes Calendergirl A.T was certainly attractive!! Also gorgeous Cornwall helped!

The racial diversity was just daft. It's like the producers have a competition to shoehorn in as many different races as possible. It's so intrusive. Don't think I'll bother watching any more.

Not too keen on Bradley Walsh but he is not bad for the part.
I loved the original series & books.

Perhaps we are trying to capture the magic of something from so many years ago - I think you have to watch it and not compare
If you saw it before then you will automatically do that
We were all younger then and different people ! I think it’s mindless entertainment and a lot filmed where I live so makes it more interesting !

Not for me - too much Bradley Walsh on the tv at the moment and he is always the same, not really acting. Think they are trying to be too PC

I find Bradley Walsh a likeable character and enjoy him on the Chase. But I’m afraid he went to the same acting lessons as Danny Dyer in Eastenders. Neither of them are acting and are just playing themselves.

Remakes are never the same and always compared to the original. Thought this one was poor and won't bother again.

Loved the original so much, such great Sunday evening viewing. Very difficult to emulate and imo nowhere near as enjoyable - seemed very forced.
