Yes - finally. About to start tonight. 7 episodes. This is in my top three of great crime drama series. The Bridge is second with Shetland third.

The phone will be on silent and MrM had better not interrupt my pleasure. I think he's tempted to watch it though.

Jed Mercurio never ceases to come up with a great story line. Series 3 was probably be best so far for me.

I agree about Anna Maxwell Esspee I love the series but found her unbelievable and not in a good way.

Atqui Mon 26-Apr-21 09:37:49

I think Anna Maxwell is doing an excellent job in portraying a real bi* !!!

Atqui Mon 26-Apr-21 09:38:32

but have always thought the actor who plays Jo is very wooden.

I think this series has been incredibly difficult to film, being done in two parts and with strict covid rules. This may have affected the actors and the continuity.

I agree, she is - but she’s been a good actress in other things, so I imagine she’s ‘being wooden’ to indicate that she’s under constraints / is being bullied, coerced?

Good point Emily. Actually , she was good last night in the interview scene.

I agree, Emily49 - she's a woman at the end of her tether, falling apart at the seams but terrified of giving herself away to AC12, terrified of the OCG, can't escape from the trap and now is involved in the murder of another police officer, a member of her team and someone she likes.

Mind you, I don't think I would be wooden in her shoes, I'd be collapsed on the floor like a heap of jelly ?

I reckon DCS Carmichael is related to Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter.

Kelly Macdonald, Jo, was on BBC breakfast this morning, when she was asked questions about LoD she was straight into character with ‘no comment’ very funny. It was an interesting interview.

Litterpicker Mon 26-Apr-21 12:04:45

I think it must be an enormous challenge for Adrian Dunbar to make us smile with his “Ulsterisms” and portray a character who is falling apart emotionally and seeing all that he has worked for seemingly defeated. I fear he is going to die doing something heroic and we will never hear him say “Mother of God” again. I hope Kate will live on to fight for the right! (‘Right’ as in ‘good’ not politically obviously ?)

The BBC Soounds podcast is very entertaining.

WishIwasyounger Mon 26-Apr-21 12:21:49

I don't think Kelly Macdonald is believable as a senior police officer as she doesn't seem to have any presence. I wonder whether Hastings will come out on top, or whether he retires with 'H' still unknown? I can't wait to watch the last episode next week: I'm sooo excited.

Purplepixie Mon 26-Apr-21 13:31:16

I think Anna Maxwell is going to turn out to be H. Last night was really good but I think it was far fetched. How come Kate and Jo managed to get away? Hastings taking this retirement lying down? Not sure, or is he H?

tanith Mon 26-Apr-21 13:43:51

Why did Kate and Jo run anyway?

Charleygirl5 Mon 26-Apr-21 13:49:25

Jo, at that point had not put her fingerprints on the gun so Kate would have been charged with murder/manslaughter but in my view, she was merely trying to save her own life. Surely in court it would have been self defence especially as Jo was a witness but I doubt if she will be alive much longer to make any statements.

Iam64 Mon 26-Apr-21 13:51:08

Tanith, I think because they feared the OCG or bent coppers would kill them. Steve had told Kate that Hastings was suspect (Steph, £50,000) . Kate seemed to believe jo would talk

Iam64 Mon 26-Apr-21 13:56:36

But, I’ve only watched the episode once, so who knows

Pittcity Mon 26-Apr-21 14:02:48

The eagle eyed fans spotted Carmichael tapping her pen 4 times during the half hour "glass box" interview.

Charleygirl5 Mon 26-Apr-21 14:26:56

Mother of God, I hope Hastings spotted that and that is why he is at his wits end with time running out and he needs evidence.

Atqui Mon 26-Apr-21 14:40:23

Tapping pen- what have I missed?

Emily49 Mon 26-Apr-21 15:06:40

Four taps is Morse Code for H!

Greeneyedgirl Mon 26-Apr-21 17:41:55

Call me thick but why did Carmichael supposedly tapping out H threaten Jo?

Maggiemaybe Mon 26-Apr-21 18:00:21

Maybe Carmichael is H but Jo didn't know, until it was tapped spelt out for her? She certainly seemed very scared of someone in that interview. Mind you, I'd have been scared of Carmichael if she as much as glanced my way.

I still want to know what Lakewell told Steve in the van, and whether he's shared it with Ted or Kate. Oh, and what Farida meant in the first episode when she said that nobody knew just what Jo was capable of.

I think the acting has been great.

Callistemon Mon 26-Apr-21 18:31:30

Oh, I'm going to have to watch the interview again!

Iam64 Mon 26-Apr-21 18:40:36

One of the many best things about Line of Duty is the way so many people are enjoying talking about it. Sharing 9pm Sunday evening has become a Thing again.
That wee donkey needs a role all its own ?

Lucca Mon 26-Apr-21 18:49:10

Can you say “bent coppers” without putting on an Irish accent?

(If you are in fact Irish please ignore!)
