Anyone else watching the above? I know its trash tv, but I look forward to it every year. My husband cant bear to be in the same room while I’m watching it!

rafichagran Sun 22-Nov-20 20:31:03

I have to say that the name dropping has really irritated me, as said by a poster upthread, totally inappropriate talking about Prince Edward and shagging in the palace, he has a young daughter and if she did not know about it before she will now.
Ruthie should have more self respect both for Prince Edward and herself. I am not a pearl clutcher but some things are better left unsaid.
I really want her to be the first to go, I just cannot warm to her.

Jane10, thats what I said. They are ALL celebrities, but not all of them feel the need to impress constant name dropping. I agree about the Saturday night show. After ten minutes I realised it wasnt live, just a rehash of everything that has gone on for the last seven days!

Jane10 Sun 22-Nov-20 17:34:00

Yes I do. Why huddle together unless there's something to talk about that they think won't be overheard. I'm sure they forget they're being filmed and recorded all the time. It must be awful. I wonder what the editors censor? I bet there's a private producers tape each year...

Ellianne Sun 22-Nov-20 17:13:07

Jane10 do you think that when two or three of them huddle together, on the hammock for gossip, the producers think, "quick, potential for a few smutty nuggets."

Jane10 Sun 22-Nov-20 16:38:44

I agree. The 'shagging' comment was inappropriate. There was only Shane there at the time. I suspect they forget that they are being recorded 24/7 and that's one nugget the editors naturally seized on.

I agree Anniebach & Ellianne,

In general I'm enjoying the programme, but not so keen on the recorded one last night, showing all the highlights plus a few new bits. I wonder why they did that?

Ellianne Sun 22-Nov-20 15:47:30

I agree Annie, as I said before, inappropriate. Prince Edward has a young teenage daughter, whose schoolmates no doubt watch the programme.
Ruthie needs to go first.

Anniebach Sun 22-Nov-20 15:37:06

Did Ruthie have to talk of shagging

Jane10 Sun 22-Nov-20 15:23:43

Meeting these people is part of their real lives though. Just what happens if you work in showbusiness. I expect the others are interested so they ask about them.
Yes Russell seems a very nice bloke. Sang for the Pope. Not name dropping. He actually did it and Shane and Ruthie have been to the Palace. So have Mo and that paralympian girl. There are all 'celebrities' after all.

Sophiasnana Sun 22-Nov-20 15:00:30

I cant stand all the name dropping, especially from Shane Ritchie and Ruthie. Oh, I went to Buckingham Palace, Oh, I met Tom Cruise, oh I dated Price Edward. Yawn. It doesnt impress me in the slightest. Theyre all ‘celebrities’. I’m sure every one of them could recite tales of meeting other celebrities.
Liking Russell more than I thought I would.

Jane10 Sat 21-Nov-20 18:59:29

I must say I'm enjoying it just as much as ever. We'll see more of the personalities as the numbers thin out.

Ellianne Sat 21-Nov-20 17:47:04

I got bored last night, they're a nice bunch of people but a bit dull. Jordan is the only one who will keep me watching I think.
Mo isn't particularly inspiring
Victoria isn't as interesting as I thought
Shane is starting to sound like Danny Dyer who I dislike
Several of the younger ones don't have much to offer
Ruthie annoyed me with her inappropriate comments about Prince Edward and family. I'm sure she only mentioned Diana to improve her own ratings
Maybe I'll give it a bit longer to see who gets voted off but even the tasks aren't that exciting. Oh dear!

CaptainCarol Fri 20-Nov-20 12:16:21

I love im a celebrity especially being at home with nothing to do nowadays,l its a good easy watch before nodding off to bed smile

MissAdventure Fri 20-Nov-20 11:40:59

They do seem a genuinely nice bunch this year, and I do think they're having an easier time of it than the jungle location contestants.

DanniRae Fri 20-Nov-20 11:37:21

If Jordan is playing games and pretending to be scared then he deserves an Oscar for such amazing acting!
I, for one, think he is genuine.

Ellianne Fri 20-Nov-20 11:23:45

Maybe someone in the castle will sneakily raise the question. Victoria is pretty astute. I think most of the men aren't interested in being bitchy, not like some years.

Grannynannywanny Fri 20-Nov-20 11:14:45

MissAdventure my friend had similar suspicion about Jordan. She said at the start “give it a few episodes and he’ll suddenly be the conquering hero!

MissAdventure Fri 20-Nov-20 10:43:32

I'm a bit cynical, perhaps, but I wonder if Jordan is playing on his fears so he can be lauded for overcoming them.

He does seem a genuinely sweet person though, and I love him and Shane's burgeoning friendship.

shysal Fri 20-Nov-20 09:43:14

Mo made me laugh when they were listing parts of the body beginning with the letter N. He suggested knee and knob! I don't know whether English is his first language.

DanniRae Fri 20-Nov-20 09:17:23

Just watched last nights programme and just LOVED IT!! It was so full of joy......to be honest I shed a tear. Jordan conquering his fears and NOT being chosen for the next trial because he got 12 stars (have to be honest here - I could not eat squirrel - I'd have been vegetarian last night). Then them getting all their luxury items because of Ruthie and Russell's efforts. I agree that Mo seems not quite with it but he seems happy enough to be there grin
So glad that I am enjoying it - I wasn't sure at first about it being in a cold castle - but now it gives me something to look forward to when I get up. (I get too sleepy to watch it at night!)

Shropshirelass Fri 20-Nov-20 08:55:29

Watched the first one but it hasn’t made me want to watch more. Pleased that it is in Wales though as it will boost tourism. I hope that once this virus has gone they keep this programme in the UK. There are so many lovely historic venues that would love the revenue that this programme and subsequent visitors brings. We need t9 look after the UK as much as possible.

Ellianne Fri 20-Nov-20 08:53:50

Does anyone find the repeated use of “you’ve got this” ever so slightly annoying?
It's preferable to "get in there" Gnw!

Grannynannywanny Fri 20-Nov-20 08:49:21

I’ve felt the same about Mo. But I feel he’ll excel when it comes to the challenges.

Does anyone find the repeated use of “you’ve got this” ever so slightly annoying?

Jane10 Fri 20-Nov-20 08:26:54

I agree Ellianne he does seem to be a bit out of the gang. Doesn't get jokes etc. It's not that they aren't nice to him he just doesn't seem part of it.

Ellianne Fri 20-Nov-20 08:12:09

They're an amusing collection of people this time. Does anyone else feel Mo is out of his depth a bit? He's nice enough, but a bit slow on the uptake. Maybe I'll be eating my words when he does his trial
