Well we traditionally have a thread - so I am starting one.

All mothers of contestants are strictly (!!!) barred!

I'm rooting for JJ Chalmers! (I hope that's his name)

Callistemon Sun 06-Dec-20 20:01:40

Mother Superior?
Not just any nun.

Grannynannywanny Sun 06-Dec-20 20:00:50

I thought JJ danced better last night

Callistemon Sun 06-Dec-20 20:00:30

Ellianne

The singer wasn't good. Some songs just can't be taken out of context. A nun walking on a mountain top!

grin

She was in a church I think.

Ok perhaps you're all right!

honeyrose Sun 06-Dec-20 19:57:26

I thought the sound had gone when listening to the start of Climb Every Mountain!

Sparklefizz Sun 06-Dec-20 19:57:16

As an aside, what does Diane see in Joe Sugg?

Oh dear, Bill’s through!

Grannynannywanny Sun 06-Dec-20 19:54:33

I enjoyed it once she got underway but the first 15-20 secs were very subdued

EllanVannin Sun 06-Dec-20 19:53:08

Merlotgran, it was chronic wasn't it ?

Callistemon Sun 06-Dec-20 19:52:31

It was different from the original I admit.
But I can't imagine anyone dancing to the original. It's more religious/spiritual.

Sparklefizz Sun 06-Dec-20 19:51:54

Yes, it was charming and tender.

Callistemon Sun 06-Dec-20 19:51:03

Oh, I liked it!

merlotgran Sun 06-Dec-20 19:49:44

What a horrible rendition of Climb Every Mountain.

Agree Anton and Diane were superb.

Callistemon Sun 06-Dec-20 19:49:39

Oh, Marisha, Anton and Diane, that was wonderful!

Grannynannywanny Sun 06-Dec-20 19:48:51

Beautiful dance from Anton and Diane

DanniRae

About 10 years ago Rachel Stevens and Vincent (remember him?) did the Rumba to "You Do Something To Me"
It was the best Rumba I have ever seen and so sexy!!
I still watch it from time to time on Youtube blush

I have just watched Rachel & Vincent's Rumba on Youtube after you mentioned it, DanniRae.

They are two very bendy people, that's for sure, and Rachel is so curvy and gorgeous in that dress which shows off her figure.

annodomini Sun 06-Dec-20 13:18:55

Deeda, now you've pointed this out, I agree - many of the dances are fast. What I have also noticed is that this year not one couple have had to perform a rumba. Is this because it's really difficult and few couples have achieved high scores?

Deedaa Sun 06-Dec-20 13:15:58

My main complaint this year is that so many of the dances are so fast. Jive, Cha Cha, Samba and Salsa all seem to be interchangeable and performed at breakneck speed. It would be nice to see more waltzes and foxtrots.

Puzzler61 Sun 06-Dec-20 11:53:09

I don’t remember the dance, but I remember the lovely Vincent and that song is SE- XY! DanniRae.

Kelvin, last year’s winner, was a soap actor like Maisie.
People vote for a celebrity for a whole range of reasons as we can see by the posts on this forum.
I think it’s hard to compare and give marks for dances one by one, and all doing different dances.
It would be less interesting to view if all couples did the same dance style each week but the way it is now it is like comparing apples to pears.

Blinko Sun 06-Dec-20 11:09:41

Maisie is an actress. If she's had theatrical training, she will undoubtedly have had some sort of dance training. Whereas Ranvir is a reporter, pure and simple. So in my book, she has the edge.

If being a sweet and nice person is going to produce the winner (as it did in “I’m a Celebrity GMOO Here”), then I’d predict J J or HRVY will win.
This diverts from who is the best dancer of course.

Yes, but there are no skills attached to "I'm a Celeb" so voting is done on likeability (I assume)

I love watching Ranvir and Gio dance and can't take my eyes off them, whatever they're doing. I think dancing the Rumba for a male celeb dancer is hard, especially if they're not actors, as they feel very self-conscious.

Maisie, Ranvir and HRVY are all brilliant dancers. Jill Halfpenny years ago (remember her?) and Jay and probably several others went on to star in London West End shows after winning Strictly, and I think those 3 could do that.

I did think last night's judges' marking was a bit haphazard. Shirley and Motsi were giving standing ovations and all 3 judges were lavishing praise and then weirdly giving an 8 or 9. I think maybe they gave out 10s too early in the programme.

There is an article in The Sunday Times today that an "inside" says that Maisie is being pushed to be the winner. Maisie is a great dancer but one thing she doesn't have is elegance and poise like Ranvir.

I just haven't really "connected" with the "celebrities" this year. I would love Jamie to go as he comes over as a pushy selfish person but I know that technically it should really be about the dancing!

I think JJ is the weakest, dance-wise.
