Well we traditionally have a thread - so I am starting one.

All mothers of contestants are strictly (!!!) barred!

I'm rooting for JJ Chalmers! (I hope that's his name)

It reflects badly on the celeb if the routine they are given is naff (Caroline’s this week). Johannes has to take more of the criticism than she does if we are being fair.
Her dance last week was lovely.
Still think she’s in danger this week.

Grannynannywanny Sun 22-Nov-20 09:14:41

I was thinking last night when Caroline was time wasting that if Len Goodman was still there he’d have marked her down.

He was often irritated by routines that had a portion at the start faffing around with props and no actual dancing.

Ranvir always looks as if she's what I call: dancing by numbers. I can almost see her counting the steps. She never seems completely 'in the dance'
That's why Jamie's dance was so brilliant: he was 'completely in the dance'.

Puzzler61 Sun 22-Nov-20 09:25:14

He would Grannynw.
I remember his funny saying about “I’ll pickle my walnuts”.
He liked a traditional version of all dances.

Ellianne Sun 22-Nov-20 09:39:03

And Darcey, Royal Ballet School trained, would have had something to say about Caroline's leg extensions.
Jamie was ecstatic!

Len had some very comical sayings. He said to Jeremy Vine after one of his dances “you’re like a stork that’s been struck by lightning!

I remember. It still makes me smile.

I doubt Johannes gets much of a say in the rehearsals if the interviews are anything to go by.

Shirley grated when she said we was !!

Wish Bill could win but doubt it.

Marks need to start at 5s from first dance so there is room for marking up and down. Everyone is forced into a corner with the tiniest room for manoeuvre, it's very silly.

They are all very good dancers though.

I find it hard to separate the dance from the person. I know he danced pretty well but I just can't bear Jamie. He seems to be a "me me me" person from the little I've seen of him.
I'd be really fed up if he won.

I suppose if it was just a dance contest then the public wouldn't get to vote.

pensionpat Sun 22-Nov-20 10:04:02

And that is the whole point of the show. Viewers phoning in. But I love it.

Grannynannywanny Sun 22-Nov-20 10:06:46

NotSpaghetti I agree. I find Jamie and Karen irritating. Their over the top antics are grating on me, although there’s no denying their dance was worthy of praise and high marks.

I think they’ll be there for the final and are likely to win.

NotSpaghetti Sun 22-Nov-20 10:08:56

Karen of course is terrific.
It makes a huge difference if the professional dancers are good choreographers.

NotSpaghetti Sun 22-Nov-20 10:11:17

I didn't find Karen irritating other years grannynannywanny - but yes, they are both pretty annoying when together!

Puzzler61 Sun 22-Nov-20 10:23:28

Giovanni gets results from his celeb partners but he seems to be a drill Sergeant. I wouldn’t like to be partnered with him.
As Bruce would say “Gorka - you’re my favourite” ?

Puzzler61 Sun 22-Nov-20 10:24:22

Oh, and Aljaz too, but he’s most ladies’ favourite.

EllanVannin Sun 22-Nov-20 10:50:53

Strange, but I haven't got a favourite this year.

mamaa Sun 22-Nov-20 11:22:17

Me neither EV, first time I've not bothered to vote also.

I was musing about the atmosphere in the studio, of which I feel there is little now, and how its possibly going to reduce further as more couples get voted off. Do they then go back to their actual families and homes and if so will they need to self isolate/form a group bubble again in order to all be together for the final? I bet that might not go down well with actual partners/children etc left at home again just before Christmas...

Sparklefizz Sun 22-Nov-20 13:20:28

My fave was Max and he's gone.

Last night I voted for Ranvir as I thought her dance was mesmerising.

Lollin Sun 22-Nov-20 15:07:17

I noticed other professional dancers starting to fill the seats of the competing pairs and assume that there are plenty of staff to help with relatives seats.

lemsip Sun 22-Nov-20 16:04:56

Bruce said to each couple 'you're my favourite' that was his joke!!

gillgran Sun 22-Nov-20 16:28:24

I'm still enjoying this year's Strictly, my favourite changes from week-to-week.!!

LullyDully Sun 22-Nov-20 17:31:04

I am trying to work out why Caroline Quentin annoys me so much. She is an older woman so maybe I should be impressed. However she seems so false somehow.

Kandinsky Sun 22-Nov-20 18:03:17

Yes, I really can’t warn to Caroline. Just something so annoying about her.
The older woman drooling over a younger man thing she does is very embarrassing too.

Charleygirl5 Sun 22-Nov-20 18:13:20

I totally agree- she is acting the entire time and for me, it is not very pleasant. I am certain she will not be in the dance-off tonight and the judges will not save her. I think it may be a repeat performance for Maisie which will devastate her if it happens. In my opinion, JJ will be close by.

Grannynannywanny Sun 22-Nov-20 18:24:14

I’m thinking Caroline’s cringey antics last night will land her in the dance off. But I think the judges will save her. I think it might be Clara to leave tonight.
