Well we traditionally have a thread - so I am starting one.

All mothers of contestants are strictly (!!!) barred!

I'm rooting for JJ Chalmers! (I hope that's his name)

Ellianne Thu 12-Nov-20 16:53:58

How did that come about? I thought the show was covid secure.

Grannynannywanny Thu 12-Nov-20 16:55:09

Oh no, that’s disappointing. I suppose it’s highly likely Nicola will also have it. I hope it’s not too serious.

The rickshaw challenge on the One Show has also been affected after one of the participating children has tested positive. They’re now all having to clock up their cycling miles in isolation at home. Such a disappointment for the youngsters but they’re doing a great job.

EllanVannin Thu 12-Nov-20 16:56:33

I'll miss that lovely wide smile sad

Parsley3 Thu 12-Nov-20 16:57:21

Oh that’s a shame for Nicola and Katya. I am watching Strictly because my granddaughter wants to discuss it with me but I record it and zoom through the guff to get to the dances.
I am following the progress of JJ and Bill as I don’t recognise many of the others. Caroline Quentin needs to stop her annoying snivelling.

honeyrose Thu 12-Nov-20 17:52:20

Ah that’s a shame about Nicola & Katya having to leave. I can’t understand how the other contestants are allowed to continue now as Katya has the virus, or is it because of the Bubble Katya & Nicola will have been in? I hope that Strictly can continue until the end - it’s such a boost to my Saturday evenings.

Calendargirl Thu 12-Nov-20 17:55:38

Think Caroline may be next to go if Nicola is no longer in the competition.

GrandmasueUK Thu 12-Nov-20 22:17:13

Now Motsi has to go back to Germany, so will be using a video link. Supposedly Anton is taking her place on the panel. It will be very interesting this weekend.

Grannynannywanny Thu 12-Nov-20 22:25:40

I wish I’d paid more attention the first week when they were going to great lengths to explain how their bubbles were going to work. Obviously Katya and Nicola have been in a close bubble and it will be down to luck now whether Nicola tests positive.

But I wonder who else is in their bubble. Make up and wardrobe staff? Also if Nicola and Katya have been in an exclusive covid safe bubble I wonder how Katya contracted the virus? I hope there aren’t more cases by the weekend.

Really disappointed to see Nicola and Katya out and hope Katya remains well.

Sparklefizz Fri 13-Nov-20 10:03:23

I'm not a fan of Anton (puts on tin hat) so I hope he's not too jokey on the panel as I find him a bit annoying and full of himself.

Yes, I wondered how Katya had caught the virus. She is apparently asymptomatic. HRVY had it right at the start but that was too long ago for her to have caught it from him.

GrandmasueUK Fri 13-Nov-20 11:02:16

From reading various articles Katya may have caught it from a sandwich shop. They were still allowed to go out shopping, although she lives on her own and was in a bubble with Nicola. The Strictly website was very informative with the guidelines they were following. I did get slightly confused when reading it though.

I quite like Anton, but I do think he is marmite and can see why some people find him annoying, so I won't be too bothered if he is on the judging panel (as long as he doesn't think it's the Anton show).

Calendargirl Fri 13-Nov-20 11:05:06

Is Motsi away for rest of series, or just for a short time?

GrandmasueUK Fri 13-Nov-20 11:33:33

Motsi says that she has to self-isolate for 14 days, so I presume she will be returning if she has negative tests.

Alegrias2 Fri 13-Nov-20 11:36:23

What a shame that Nicola and Katya are having to withdraw, I loved watching them. I hope Katya remains well.

Alegrias2 Fri 13-Nov-20 11:38:54

Motsi has to isolate for 14 days, like everyone else coming back from Germany. It doesn't matter if she has negative tests or not, she'll still have to isolate.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 13-Nov-20 12:16:19

Apparently Katya hasn’t and Covid symptoms it was picked up in the regular test they are having throughout the series.

Violettham Fri 13-Nov-20 12:28:11

I too dislike all the bits except the actual dancing. I have stopped watching this year. How I wish they would go back to the original formula of just dancing.

gillgran Fri 13-Nov-20 15:57:14

Anton joining the judges will be a good trial for him, (& the rest of us), if & when a vacancy comes up in the future on the judging panel, or on the presenting side.
I wish him well.

I do love this programme, a bright spot at the weekend, especially during these dark times.

DanniRae Sat 14-Nov-20 07:37:53

I am pleased that Anton is going to join the judging panel for 2 weeks.
I saw him being interviewed on "It Takes Two" and he is so excited about it and I am glad for him smile

Millie22 Sat 14-Nov-20 07:59:49

Lovely to see Anton on ITT last night talking about being a judge. He must be thinking at last.

Sparklefizz Sat 14-Nov-20 14:01:35

Max is going to dance the American Smooth tonight. I can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!! blush

Ellianne Sat 14-Nov-20 14:43:42

Ooo Max. I'm getting all excited! If he pulls if off in the smooth dance he will show how versatile he is after last week's Homer performance.

Ellianne Sat 14-Nov-20 19:19:11

Ahem, where's the show dance opening number this week?

Sparklefizz Sat 14-Nov-20 19:21:32

Crikey HRVY! That was impressive.

Sparklefizz Sat 14-Nov-20 19:25:17

Lollin Sat 14-Nov-20 19:26:47
