Well we traditionally have a thread - so I am starting one.

All mothers of contestants are strictly (!!!) barred!

I'm rooting for JJ Chalmers! (I hope that's his name)

Charleygirl5 Nothing's ever been mentioned about her being gay. She was married to Neil and had a fling with one of the celebs, Seann, but maybe she's bi. I don't know.

If Nicola stays in tonight, it will be interesting to see if Katya continues like this, but I've noticed that even when she is just taking part in the chatting, she has suddenly adopted more masculine mannerisms and copies Nicola. I don't see why she does that.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the single-sex pairing, but it certainly makes for interesting choreography. I was especially impressed with that in the first week.

Calendargirl I think you’re right- for the first time ever I didn’t vote last night as I’m not at all bothered about who wins. Could be because Kevin/Anton are no longer contenders or just apathy in general which seems to have set in regarding most things. I was never apathetic before this year! confused

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Nov-20 16:50:05

mamaa I know what you mean about apathy. I love painting and belong to an art club which has obviously closed. When I first went into lockdown last March I imagined I would be painting non-stop but I just can't work up any enthusiasm at all and this is not like me. I've been painting at least every week, sometimes several days a week, for 20 years. Now it's been 9 whole months ......

I've never voted as I'm not much interested in the celebs, the dancers or the competition, I just love to watch them dance. So I never watch the first episode either.
My OH hates Strictly with a passion, mainly due to all the histrionics and screaming. I've always watched it on I-player when he's not around, it makes the prospect of an hour's ironing a bit more fun if nothing else and I can FF through the bits that annoy me.

I think many artistic hobbies like painting, playing music, writing a book etc are dependant on mood. Maybe fallow periods are necessary to rest the brain. Perhaps Strictly falls into that kind of category. I am tempted to give it a miss for a few weeks until only the serious dancers are left.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 08-Nov-20 17:25:10

We haven’t voted since our dear friend was a contestant, DH complained about the phone bills......... worth every penny as they won ?

DanniRae Sun 08-Nov-20 18:00:36

WOW!! GG13 - who was it? I am impressed that you know a "Strictly" winner!!

GrannyGravy13 Sun 08-Nov-20 18:06:22

Have known them since they were a babe in arms, and all the family.

varian Sun 08-Nov-20 18:10:39

GG13 I'm wondering if your Strictly winner went to the same school as one of my grandchildren, who was pictured on TV for about ten seconds as she and her classmates watched the famous old boy practising?

Beauregard Sun 08-Nov-20 18:21:10

GG13 You tease us! But I think I know who it is hmm

merlotgran Sun 08-Nov-20 18:26:13

It's a squawkfest this year with terrible singing.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 08-Nov-20 18:34:51

Only if your GC went to school in Essex Varian

gillgran Sun 08-Nov-20 18:40:14

This lovely programme lifts my spirits, especially this year during these difficult times.

I was an ardent Kevin Clifton fan, but I'm still enjoying it this year.
I'm now getting to know who-is-who. (I'll know them all by the end)!!

GrannyGravy13 Sun 08-Nov-20 18:34:51

"Only if your GC went to school in Essex Varian"

Not Essex, so must be a different winner.

Ellianne Sun 08-Nov-20 19:12:50

GG13 a sportsman or a musician?

Beauregard Sun 08-Nov-20 19:18:15

GG13 Had a romance with her professional partner?

Ellianne Sun 08-Nov-20 19:31:03

Pretty opening number. My sort of style.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Nov-20 19:32:59

What a fabulous start to the show. Made me tearful seeing the white cliffs of Dover.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Nov-20 19:41:11

I've had enough of Jamie ..... and I'm always irritated by people (Nicola) saying "I'm gonna give 150%" Aaarrgh! It doesn't make sense.

Callistemon Sun 08-Nov-20 19:46:56

I agree 200%!

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Nov-20 19:50:52

grin

dragonfly46 Sun 08-Nov-20 20:10:16

I think Craig must be in love. He is so much less critical!

gillgran Sun 08-Nov-20 20:13:41

dragonfly46, I agree, Craig is much more pleasant, a softer, fairer approach.

mamaa Sun 08-Nov-20 20:21:03

Thought I’d pop back and say I thoroughly enjoyed, if that’s the right word, the opening number. It brought tears to my eyes. I agreed with the couples left in the bottom two but not with the result as I thought Jason and Luba were more entertaining and he was showing more promise. Sad they’re going/gone. Less apathy tonight abs enjoyed the group dancing/ couples themed dance very much. smile
