Netflix- recommendations

Watched one last week, think it was called Edie, with Sheila Hancock as the main character. I enjoyed it, a gentle and poignant tale.

Gritty true life story called The Staircase got totally hooked on it. The Crown was just great, both series.

Great foodie series, "Somebody Feed Phil". Fabulous food, great scenery, humour too.
I'm a Star Trek fan so I'm also enjoying the new episodes of Discovery.
The Good Place is a comedy series about a young woman who finds herself in heaven, stars Ted Danson.

Another vote for The Staircase, there is also a book written about the case and a podcast which I think was made by the BBC.. Making A Murderer is also a gripping documentary and there are two series now. I believe the BAFTA winning film Roma is on Netflix as well.

The Assassination Of Gianni Versace is now on Netflix. It was on BBC last year and was excellent. It does hop backwards and forwards in time but it is worth sticking with. The young man who plays the murderer is brilliant in it, I believe he starred in Glee.

Fargo series 3 is also now on Netflix. Ewan McGregor plays two brothers and is excellent in it.

I liked You recently, and the Oscar nominated film Roma is on Netflix- it’s a bit slow but a sad story.

As @crystaltipps mentions, You was very gripping (10 x 1hr episodes, I think). It reminded me a little of Dexter, but with a more realistic feel. There's some violence and sex, but not excessive IMO. A chilling story of a man's obsession and how he uses today's technology to get close to the woman.

Can't recommend The Good Place enough. Husband and I really enjoy it.
I'm rewatching the first two series of The Crown, preparing for the new one with Olivia Colman ?

We were all addicted to an Israeli series called Shtisel about an Orthodox family and, in particular, the son as he looks for a wife. It’s very gentle and totally captivating.

I enjoyed Alone in Berlin with Emma Thompson.
It was our Book Club choice in November. Not as good as the book ( Alone in Berlin by Hans Fallada ) but did enjoy it.

I started "Dirty John" over the weekend and it's very gripping. I can recommend it.
I like "Grace and Frankie", and "The Kominsky Method".

I love Sheila Hancock, so I’ll give Edie a look. I enjoyed Marcella, with Anna Friel.

I have just got Netflix, thanks to my son adding me to their agreement. I enjoyed the Crown, but it will be strange having lots of new actors for the third series.

I just watched and enjoyed Alias Grace, having read the book (Margaret Atwood) . It's a 6 parter and was very well done.

I saw the first series of The Sinner, now the 2nd is on Netflix. I hear it may not be so good, but will try it.

My only recommendation is to cancel the subscription, I find Netflix a total waste of money.

The Kominsky Method is excellent Alan Arkin is brilliant and the latest series of Grace and Frankie is very funny.

Is Netflix the same as SKY and Amazon, nearly all American films ?

We don't have Netflix but I saw this at someone else's house and really enjoyed it.

"What we did on our Holiday" stars Billy Connolly, Rosamund Pike, David Tennant and Ben Miller and three wonderful child actors and is set amongst the most fabulous scenery on the West coast of Scotland.

My son, who lives away, had added me to his Netflix at no extra. There are two of them who both use it, so he could add me too at no extra. He gave me his password, and I just added a third profile.

There are some interesting (to me ) programmes, not sure I'd pay for it though. I'm going to watch Edie, thanks for the recommendation.

I loved The Crown. Can’t wait for series 3.

Just watched SAFE and really enjoyed it.
Watched Dirty John didn't think much of it tbh.
