Has anybody else seen this. Sunday night 9pm. It is based on a Agatha Christie. Only 3 episodes . And two have just gone. It is really menacing but I am really enjoying it. Very well constructed. Full of good actors .

I'm enjoying it too, Nellie, but I am totally bewildered and hope it makes sense next week.

I agree about the good actors and I'm really impressed by the maid/housekeeper. I always have to check what she's been in before - and I can never remember her name!

Eleanor Tomlinson is good too - bet I've got her name wrong too but I'm very tired.

Well, who murdered Phillip? Was it Mary, or someone else. What a damaged and disfunctional family they are. It's very well acted, I'm enjoying it and looking forward to the final episode.

Anybody any the wiser?
Me neither!

I'm thoroughly confused

Haven't watched it as I know the story and whodunit so don't enjoy Christie dramas with the tension!

Greyduster Mon 09-Apr-18 22:55:30

It's taken me two episodes to realise that Eleanor Tomlinson was Mrs Poldark. The dotty doctor is getting on my nerves a bit!

Is Mary the natural daughter? Forgive me if this has been made clear but I do sometimes nod off on a Sunday evening and miss a bit of plot. I have my own idea of who killed Rachel but I'm not sure who killed Philip. He was horrid. I would have killed him.

Auntieflo Tue 10-Apr-18 09:10:10

I think Mary was also adopted. She said, in Sunday's episode, something like, " I was the first, I was chosen" . What is the maid's secret? Does anyone else feel it is awfully strange, that in that enormous house, there appears to be only one servant?

Pittcity Tue 10-Apr-18 09:20:23

It's very good as everyone has a reason to be the murderer.
I think the same person murdered Philip as he knew too much.

I read most of Agatha Christie's books years ago, the books are always better imo. Not sure what Agatha would have made of some of the expletives in this adaptaton shock

Teetime Tue 10-Apr-18 11:22:33

Well I have just seen episode 2 - its very dark isn't it. I want to cuddle the doctor guy and make it all for him. Love Bill Nighy - please don't marry that Madam!!

Jane10 Tue 10-Apr-18 16:23:41

Oh Demelza! Of course. I was going nuts trying to work out who she was. Phew.

Charleygirl Tue 10-Apr-18 16:32:33

I did not enjoy Agatha Christie's written work so I did not want to watch this.

Jane10 Tue 10-Apr-18 16:47:12

It's a very much adapted version. Very dark. You should give it a try charleygirl.

Atqui Tue 10-Apr-18 18:21:49

Apparently the person who has adapted the work for TV has changed the ending, I.e the person wot dun it!

Greyduster Tue 10-Apr-18 18:30:13

Demelza! Thank you, Jane for giving me the other bit I was struggling with!

Charleygirl Tue 10-Apr-18 18:41:42

Jane maybe I should because there is zilch else to watch!

Deedaa Wed 11-Apr-18 08:33:29

As it's a Christie I haven't read I've been enjoying it. But in those days no one would have said "can I get a lift?"

DanniRae Wed 11-Apr-18 14:37:55

I watched the first episode and half of the second then gave up. I couldn't understand what was going on (I know I am dim) and decided I didn't really care who the murderer was anyway! confused

All the ‘children’ are adopted.
They all love their Father, but most of them hated their Mother ( who was murdered.)Except Mary, who wanted her Mother ( adoptive Mother) to love only her.
The ghastly Philip has now been done in.....or has he?Could be a suicide made to look like a murder.
The ‘doctor’ may be the next victim.

lemongrove Wed 11-Apr-18 16:39:19

Good acting and dialogue and all the period details right.

luluaugust Wed 11-Apr-18 16:45:49

Absolutely awful adaption of a period book. The swearing is all wrong and to change the end - I am speechless (for once). In the book the Doc is a certain type of Englishman gentleman and nothing to do with Atomic bombs - just dreadful.

kittylester Wed 11-Apr-18 16:50:59

Just as an aside - can I have the nuclear bunker when they've done with it - things are looking dicey in the real world.

lemongrove Wed 11-Apr-18 16:55:45

lulu....artistic license? grin
