That's what I was thinking Teetime. I also struggle with my hearing these days, especially if people have American accents so I tend to watch a lot of things on dvd with subtitles on. We probably will go to the cinema, because we like to see all of the Oscar nominated films and we've just renewed our membership at our indie cinema, but it's going to take a good film to come anywhere near Three Billboards [still thinking about it..]. And I'm hoping that del Toro has come up with another Pans Labyrinth with The Shape of Water. Can't remember the last time there were so many good films out.

I think its definitely a good thing to watch at home it doesn't have special effects or anything like that which would need a big screen. It is a little slow but a really good story well acted.

I really enjoyed this grown up movie and loved the last five minutes. Well done Spielberg

Looking forward to seeing this film. Like you say, can't go wrong if Tom Hanks is in it.

I'm wondering if it's the sort of film I'd enjoy more on dvd; have been a bit spoilt film wise recently with Churchill, Three Billboards and Paddington.

Thanks nana I'll look forward to seeing it when it's on tv.

I think it would be just as good on the small screen

Would you say it is one you have to see in the cinema or could you enjoy it just as much when it comes round on the small screen?

We went on Sunday, loved it. Any film with Tom Hanks has to be good, add Meryl Streep and it can't fail. I read a review which said the film was 'stodgy and slow'. I suspect that links to MS' character, who stumbles and thinks aloud sometimes when under pressure. It fits perfectly with the character drawn in the film, a woman who hadn't had power, or expected to have it until the death of her husband. She'd had a traditional upbringing for her background and gender, she rose to the task of course.
Tom Hanks is as always just a joy.
Great film of a fascinating period in our history,

I can recommend too

I think it’s the only film that is tempting me right now so thanks for the recommendation.

I bought the DVD of Bridge of Spies last summer and it’s still in its wrapper! Note to self for the weekend grin

We went on Sunday afternoon (only three couples in there)Yes I agree very good indeed- both these actors turn out consistently good films (if you leave Momma Mia out of it).

Juts watched bridge of Spies on Netflix as we missed it at the cinema -excellent film absolutely gripping- Tom Hanks was brilliant.

Anyone seen it? We went this evening and really enjoyed it. Recommended. Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep were both superb. Go see!
