Am in bits after watching the third episode on catchup. Why do we only start to do things about animals becoming extinct etc when it's almost too late? Some of the people trying to save them/film them etc are so dedicated.

Second episode did not disappoint. What wonderful people these production team members are. I had no idea how many small cats there were in the wild.

It's a stunning documentary and I really like the way the BBC does the bit at the end about how part of it was filmed.

Apparently that is done so the programme is suitable for the American market. It gets the 50 minute version without the bit at the end so the programme fits in with the adverts in a one hour slot.

A really good programme, informative, visually lovely with great shots not only of the animals but nature/sky etc and with a low key and non intrusive voice narrating.

Loved the programme. That rusty-spotted little cat was gorgeous. Such a tiny thing to survive in a big jungle. I am always so grateful to this type of programme for allowing us to see all the wonderful wildlife on our planet.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, and am looking forward to the second episode. Fantastic footage.

Thanks Alima; I'm one of the very few that didn't get to see Dr Foster and perhaps, given it's content, it's good that I don't have any sort of mental image of the person doing the talking! It was quite nice thinking it was Colin Firth, though wink...

Excellent programme. BBC does these things so very well. My recently acquired, elderly rescue cat, ignored all the large animals but was quite fascinated with that very tiny puss.

In a 'night zoo' in Singapore, the most majestic animal of all was an enormous tiger. So impressive but so captive. He had a large enclosure but how much happier he would have been in the jungle, but so much more at risk from those evil poachers. I was astonished to see the puma and penguins sharing a habitat, until I realised that it was Patagonia. I felt sad for the penguins but relieved that the puma had a ready source of food. Can't wait for next week's programme.

Tegan, Bertie Carvel was doing the voice over. If you saw Dr Foster he played her husband.

I'll never forget being at London Zoo and standing just a foot or so next to a tiger behind a glass screen; still gives me goose bumps thinking about it.

Was it Colin Firth doing the voice over; I tried to see it on the credits but missed it. Having watched wildlife programmes all my life it always amazes me that there are species of animal that I've never heard of [eg that tiny cat].And, daft as it may seem [duuh] it had never crossed my mind that the lion was the only cat to live in a social group.

Cats are my favourite animal I found the programme really interesting. So many species of feline, I was waiting for "The Fishing Cat" I remember seeing one on a visit to Damian Aspinall's zoo, Howletts, in Kent. As the animal's name suggests it survives by fishing and has developed webbing between it's toes to adapt to that. I caught a glimpse of it in the trailer, so maybe it will feature next week. I never get tired of looking at cats and there were some beautiful ones last night.

Hattie was riveted by it, watched it closely just occasionally whimpering and checking behind the TV for where those pesky pussy cats had disappeared to grin

It was fascinating. I didn't realise there were so many types of cat and in so many places.

Or not so big in some cases smile
Loved it.
