Oh what a huge disappointment.
Last year Peter Pan gone wrong was so funny I nearly choked laughing.
I had immense anticipation for this and was so disappointed.
Oh well you can't win them all.

I agree, we have just watched it and found some funny moments, but it seemed more contrived than Peter Pan ( which I found hilarious.)Yes, a disappointment.

The best bit was Marley falling through his coffin.

DanniRae Sat 30-Dec-17 21:07:20

I turned it off!

Deedaa Sat 30-Dec-17 21:09:59

Not as funny as Peter Pan, but I did like the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come and Bob Cratchit knowing all Scrooge's lines after reading all his own.

After Peter Pan last year. I made dh eat on his knee so we could watch it. It was awful.

I hadn't seen the previous ones and thought this was terrible. I have read that the creators want to make a series......

I agree it was very disappointing. This time not clever, just silly. sad

OldMeg Sat 30-Dec-17 21:45:14

Dreadful. OTT. Not a patch on last year.

Last year’s Peter Pan Gone Wrong also had me in stitches so I had high hopes tonight, alas, dashed.
Not even faintly funny.

Agree-such a disappintment!

AyjayF Sat 30-Dec-17 22:55:24

Yes. I tuned in with high hopes. Last year's Peter Pan Goes Wrong was hilarious. This was painful. Ho hum.

We thought this was really disappointing as an attempt at humour. A couple of slightly funny moments but the rest was very contrived and felt like a sketch drawn out into a programme. Having read the comments above, I'd like to have seen last year's Peter Pan, though.

Eloethan Sun 31-Dec-17 00:01:49

I recorded it but, having read the above comments, think I'll just delete it.

DGC watch Peter Pan from the same company ,over and over. It still makes me laugh. Enjoyed last night's programme, but not in the same league as last year.

Tegan2 Sun 31-Dec-17 11:07:51

I thought it was dreadful.

whitewave Sun 31-Dec-17 11:27:47

And me!

We are booked to see “The play that went wrong” at Chichester. I hope it is better than that!

lexigran Sun 31-Dec-17 11:54:32

We watched it after all the comments about Peter Pan. As we had nothing to compare it to we watched it all. There were some funny moments but it all got a bit silly! Just wish I'd seen it last year grin

goldengirl Sun 31-Dec-17 11:57:29

Very disappointed with it - and felt sorry really for Derek Jacobi though he must have known what he was letting himself in for. I'd enjoyed Peter Pan but this was dire except for Bob Cratchit having to read his lines in various ways which made my lips twitch just a little

Greyduster Sun 31-Dec-17 12:34:00

I a also surprised that such luminaries as Derek Jacobi and Diana Rigg should have given their time to this. I didn’t see the last one, but was hugely disappointed with this. There were some funny moments, but too much of it was laboured and excruciating.

Franbern Sun 31-Dec-17 15:00:03

Do agree with most comments. I have kept my recording of Peter Pan Gone Wrong, and have played it for various visitors. It is totally hilarious. Was so excited when they said another one from this company was on this year, watched and recorded it - but definitely not in the same class. Perhaps, because they had to condense it. PP was played live from a theatre - there was a live audiance. It still rates as one of the greatest christmas comedy shows ever

BlueBelle Sun 31-Dec-17 15:12:06

I only saw a small bit but quickly realised it wasn’t funny to me so switched over

felice Sun 31-Dec-17 15:13:08

I loved it, but, I have been involved with AmDram for nearly 40 years, many more Am then Dram and I saw almost all the the stuff that happened on TV on stage.
Including a Jolly green Giant nipping to the shops in full costume to get teabags, and then running away with the Christmas Fairy, in real life.
Laughed a lot.

fiorentina51 Sun 31-Dec-17 16:22:33

Go ahead and see The Play that Went Wrong, Whitewave. We saw it a few months ago and it is very much on a par with Peter Pan Goes Wrong. Very funny indeed.
I thought A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong was a big let down.
I think one problem with it was moving it from an Am Dram theatre setting to a "take over" of a BBC studio. It just didn't work.

grannyticktock Sun 31-Dec-17 16:40:17

I agree with the comments above. Not a patch on the Peter Pan one. Special effects going wrong are not as funny as human beings blundering through wobbly sets etc, and I gave up before the end.
