Festive season viewing.

Teetime you are not alone. Can’t stand Call the Midwife, or Eastenders either and the two of them seem to be taking over on Christmas night. We have lots of recorded stuff which we need to view as the Virgin box will be replaced shortly. Between that and Netflix plus two lively grandsons staying I doubt if I’ll be bored!

Dr Who! Then rewatch my Walking Dead collection!

I’m looking forward to Little Women too; I read it so many times when I was a child.

Christmas tv does look very bad but luckily we have Netflix and there are lots of excellent box sets on BBC iPlayer. I will be watching Wolf Hall again and am just watching The Feud, a fantastic series about Joan Crawford and Bette Davies at the time of making Whatever Happened To Baby Jane. I am saving the second series of The Crown to watch on Netflix over Christmas.

It is wonderful to have so many choices but I do miss the days of sitting down as a family watching the Christmas Specials of Morecambe And Wise, The Two Ronnies and many more.

Xmas tv is the same every year, I don’t know anyone who does not moan about it .... whoever chooses this garbage ?? I use it as a time to switch the tv off, or catch up on old favourite films etc

Not much I want to watch to be honest, I expect my radio will get a fair bit of punishment, tho’.
Who knows? I might even get to talk to my relatives if they raise their eyes from X-Boxes, iPhones etc. , and if they would just stop squabbling for one minute!
Honestly, my family are all in their thirties and forties, with children of their own, professional people with responsible jobs, but at Christmas they regress to infancy, and it’s not unknown to hear: “Mummeeee - he/she’s picking on me!”
Fortunately the DGC are usually fairly civilised.
Maddening, but I love them all to distraction and realise how lucky I am to have my large, noisy, sometimes enfiriating, but always loving family.

I think I'll treat myself to a large box of chocolates!!!!!

Oh I might make an effort to see Little Women. I haven't read that book or seen any movie of it since I was a young kid.

I was disappointed in how little I found to watch. I put the
Queens speech in my diary and Little Women and the 3 scientific institution lectures starting Boxing Day.

The Miniaturist and Little Women. Family will want to watch Dr Who and Call The Midwife. Apparently the latter is set during the Great Freeze of 62/63. I’m preparing to annoy everyone with my memories of walking to school in the snow...

The Miniaturist- if it's anything like the book it will be brilliant.

I will watch Little Women which I loved as a child - I read the whole series time and again.

It all looks dire on the Christmas TV schedules and we are eating our way through 'The Crown' so there might not even be that in reserve. Oh dear. 'The Miniaturist' was a pretty ropy, PC piece of writing but it might be better dramatised. Agatha Christie will be a trot round the usual houses. 'Little Women' might be pleasant.

Champagne and chocolates then.

The TV will be on in the background as we'll be playing board games and quizzes after we've abused our digestive systems. I don't want a repeat of last year when I feared I might explode all over the Trivial Pursuit board. With so many of us in the house it's impossible to watch anything properly as it's so noisy. I wouldn't really have it any other way though, so cheers.

I am a Kindle fan. Assuming their servers don't go down, I will at least have reading to fall back on.

I player line of duty. Also Marigold Hotel in cuba.Vietnam war documentary and on Sat bbc4 the brilliant Spiral returns.

Christmas carols from my ipod first thing on Christmas morning. Followed by Paul O'Grady on radio while preparing lunch. Over the christmas period on catchup - Call the Midwife, Christmas Day edition of Eastenders and Radio 4's Dead Ringers for me. Nothing more.

Usually spend more time over Christmas with the videos-yes, videos!-or CDs of seasonal favourites. Have just acquired, "Polar Express", puzzled that it's not on TV except Sky (which I can't receive) until I discovered that Sky have bought it. Meanies! It'll join,"Blackadder's Christmas Carol"."Scrooge","First Snows of Winter", "White Christmas" and "It's a Wonderful Life". Favourite is probably,"In the Bleak Midwinter" wonderful b and w film by Ken Branagh of a group of hams producing Hamlet in a church hall. Marvellous cast, terrific film!

I love sport so will be recording and watching every minute of the Boxing day Ashes and watching it in-between visitors. Football too. Not else takes my fancy so will be watching box set of Poldark.

Is that the Ashes series we just lost, newnanny?

Just to bring down the tone a couple of notches, granddaughter and I are sitting on the sofa watching the third in the Nativity series "Dude Where's My Donkey". Well she likes it, fresh from doing her school nativity paly.

Victoria and the Minaturist. Got lots of tv recorded on Sky and have Netflix and Prime. Also will be watching My Cousin Rachel, been saving that one for the holidays.

My mountain of recordings I never thought I would ever get round to watching will come in very handy.

When is Christmas Carol goes wrong ? And what channel? Can't find it!
