Oh dear bless us !! I'm all for saying that X Factor is mindless tv watching and yet sometimes I watch it myself. Tonight we're watching Nicole do the 6 chair challenge, what a mess.

She's initially weeding noone out, giving everyone a chair, then replacing them one at a time, then bringing one back.... and during all this the guy who can't do much more than swing his false plait is sitting untouched and looking safe.

Meanwhile selector Nicole is looking at times like a rabbit in the headlights, almost as if she is overwhelmed and doesn't know what to do.

It certainly looks very haphazard - or is it just me?

what it is is that she has to make a decision and lets face it the decision she makes will effect someone in a big way

And therefore you can maybe understand her in certaintly and mis hap way of dealing with the situation. She does not wish to be cruel to anyone but never the less she has a well paid job to do.

I was just saying the other day that I do feel sorry for these people that want a career in music because if they wanted a career in anything else it would be fairly simple just go to Uni but these people have to beg to do a job that they want to do doesn't seem fair some how and I do feel sorry for them

I wanted to be a singer when I was younger and would have loved a chance like X Factor

But don’t you all understand that it’s all rehearsed to make it seem dramatic and the on off seat is just an effect to make the audience scream and shout ....It’s not for real any more than Coronation Street is real

Yeah I guess that is true smile it is all drama to keep us entertained.

BlueBelle I must be awfully niave, it didn't cross my mind for one moment that the 6 chair challenge was rehearsed.
I took it at face value......

Serkeen I do understand what she has to do and that she has decisions to make, doesn't want to be cruel etc. I just thought she came across as floundering.
I also feel sorry for all the hopefuls and told myself that if they've made it the length of the 6 chair challenge then with a bit of luck those who are talented will have gained some publicity and possible 'seen' by promoters and folks in the business smile

Yes true Coolgran I hope that for them too, it is an exciting industry to be in I have always thought so.

Oh dear Coolgran of course they know exactly who’s going to be kept in, they just need to keep the viewing figures up by making it seem indecisive to give it drama All the hands up ‘ that’s not the right song for you’ etc is a well worn path

I enjoy X Factor but wish they'd just get on with the singing and stop all the silly gimmicks. I think the 6 chair challenge is cruel and I wish they would scrap it. It may well be pre-planned for dramatic effect on the part of the panel but it seems to take no account of how upsetting it must be for the singers. It's just nasty and adds nothing to the show.
