Anyone else developing a soft spot for Cormoran Strike?

lemongrove Wed 30-Aug-17 22:20:56

But a crumpled dishevelled one.

maryeliza54 Wed 30-Aug-17 22:26:21

Indeed - I was very fond of him and his mac

I have just watched the first episode and so far enjoying it. Have not seen the two lead actors befor, they seem good choices for the part. Unusually I can remember from the book who killed the model, haven't a clue on the actual story though. At last something decent to watch on telly.

Just finished the final part .... I really loved it (must be easily pleased as no one else seemed to). Great chemistry between Strike and Robin, a bit different.

I hadn't read the book. Very surprised and glad to hear that the second story, the silk worm, starts on 10 Sept.

I had to put on sub titles tonight or I would not have understood much of what was going on.

I want to get cracking on that office with a paintbrush and some Farrow & Ball!!

Alima Sun 03-Sept-17 22:24:50

Nah, the place wouldn't have the ambiance all poshed up.

Really enjoyed that, very impressed with the two lead actors. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Grannyknot Sun 03-Sept-17 22:37:21

Me too.

tanith Sun 03-Sept-17 22:53:23

Enjoyed it a lot.

Swanny Sun 03-Sept-17 22:55:27

seacliff pleased to hear the second story starts soon, although I have yet to see the last of the first one due to something more important, ie dinner with my family grin

BTW (Spoiler coming up) fantastic camera work with the prosthetic leg.

seacliff Sun 03-Sept-17 22:59:44

Yes Swanny, the second story is apparently in 2 parts. Hope you enjoy the final part when thou get round to seeing it.

Elrel Sun 03-Sept-17 23:39:33

Love the name. He's credible as the character in the book and Robin is great too. Tom Burke is definitely appealing.
I'm a bit worried about the hauntingly horrible violence in the other two books, I almost wished I hadn't read Silkworm.

POGS Mon 04-Sept-17 00:32:42

I thought the story line and ending was a bit weak to be honest and I was glad it was only a 3 parter.

However I do like Tom Burke and I found him rather handsome in the role of Dolokhov in the BBC War and Peace adaptation shown a while ago.

I always thought the actor Stacey Keach was a looker and Tom Burke reminds me of him.

BlueBelle Mon 04-Sept-17 07:07:07

Pogs I found it a bit weak at the end too just fizzled out
But I though Tom Burke rather appealing so will watch the next one

Christinefrance Mon 04-Sept-17 08:34:42

I enjoyed it as well although a bit predictable. I will watch the next one.

Gemmag Mon 04-Sept-17 09:01:37

Thoroughly enjoyed it but needed subtitles. Great choice of actors. looking forward to Silk Worm.

Sparklefizz Mon 04-Sept-17 09:59:58

Elrel Yes, I have read the books and am worried about the violence in the other two. "Cuckoo" was ok. I found "Silkworm" horrible. Anyway, I will give the tv version of "Silkworm" a try but don't want to watch something gross. I have a crush on Tom Burke as the Strike character, and I think he and Robin go very well together.

I found last night's ending a bit weak too. I hate it when one character explains what has happened to another character. That always seems a cop-out.

annsixty Tue 05-Sept-17 10:18:03

I watched it on catchup and really enjoyed it. I hadn't read the books. However violence is something I abhor so will see how Silkworm goes.
At an age when I can't cope with too much unpleasantness. I find enough in the newspapers and tv news.

kittylester Tue 05-Sept-17 10:26:34

I lobed it and found Tom Burke slightly more than 'rather appealing' blush

goldengirl Tue 05-Sept-17 11:20:25

He certainly grew on me - perhaps I like the rough and ready look. I really enjoyed this drama and look forward to reading the book - which is something I rarely do.

65clare Tue 05-Sept-17 11:50:33

Also had a soft spot for him. Must check out the books. Looking forward to new series of Cold Feet.

HildaW Wed 06-Sept-17 17:43:19

Oh annesixity I am just the same....I often turn stuff off or do not even bother with it having read synopsis in Tv.
That's why I am watching the lovely series on BBC about the lifeboat crews. Such wonderful people who seem real heroes and yet completely self effacing.

BBbevan Wed 06-Sept-17 18:22:20

Love that Tom Burke. Can't wait for The Silkworm. I might even dream about him❤️

BlueBelle Mon 11-Sept-17 07:01:44

Well I looked forward to The Silkworm last night but wasn't so keen on that episode I don't mind gore but...... I ll stick with it and still like Tom Burke

Alima Mon 11-Sept-17 08:07:15

Thing is, the gore is part of the story line. I think it was done really well. Love the way the relationship between Cormoran and Robin is developing. Those two actors are very good together.
