I think she was used Anniebach she came from good stock, relatively innocent and was chosen a bit like a broodmare to provide charles with an heir.

It was the photos that got me too Jane10 . Imagine the realisation when she knew that her husband (with whom I have no doubt she was in love) was having a public affair with that woman. Imagine the shame. The heartbreak and the helplessness she must've felt knowing he was never going to give her up and that everyone in the palace knew about it. and the lies "she's just a friend" yes right.

Poor girl, deserved so much more than to be conned into marrying C in order to produce an heir and what did she get in return apart from to be public humiliation? Unforgivable.

I really dislike the royals (small r) . This dysfunctional family that we are supposed to look up to.

Was she unwanted or did she drive people away

Jane10 Mon 07-Aug-17 09:32:07

It was the photos that struck me. No lies there. Her in tears as a young thing just before a royal appearance. All those photos with her friend Camilla.
The discovery that everyone in the palace knew about Charles's relationship.
I was quite struck by that Jeffson person. He was from a loyal family of courtiers but remained loyal to her. So sad to hear that when she returned to the Palace after visits to sick people, there was no one to ask how it went etc.
Poor unwanted girl. No wonder she looked for approval everywhere and ended up seeking it in unlikely ways and from unlikely people.

Diana wouldn't lie. She said she didn't make those pestering phone calls to the Hoares, so Mrs Hoare and the police lied.

She was in love with Manakee and adored Hewitt. He hurt her so much.

She said Tiggy had an abortion , so must be true .

Her mother, sister, brother , sister in law were unkind to her, must be true.

Is she had been R.C. She would be canonised

Christinefrance Mon 07-Aug-17 08:49:23

Not a biased programme at all then ?

Anniebach Mon 07-Aug-17 08:42:26

Wonder if Mrs Manakee or her children watched

I have never been a Diana fan , but the programme interested me.I have always been in two minds about the accident...but her ex security guard with whom she had a relationship killed in a motorbike accident three weeks after leaving his job ...is it possible he was "removed" ...looking through facebook this morning it seems I wasnt the only person to think this during the programme.

Interesting that recently there was a post about camilla being queen and most gnetters who responded were happy about that ,which did surprise me.
would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at buckingham palace / balmoral/ sandringham or wherever, this morning over breakfast.

I for one won't be watching Charles coronation or celebrating it in any way.
William is another matter though. I'm sure he'd be a good king. Diana made sure he had as happy a childhood as possible.

I am not a fan of the monarchy and think the whole system is outdated. However, I liked Diana very much and think the way she was treated was appalling.

I just watched it too Jane10 and seeing Charles openly lying about his relationship (we are good friends) with Camilla just sums him up. I don't think him or his mother could bear the fact that Diana was more popular than they were.

Poor girl would still be alive today if she had never set eyes on the creep.

Wherever our sympathies lie, it might be a good thing to remember that documentaries like this are expertly put together and heavily edited.

silverlining48 Sun 06-Aug-17 22:38:44

Azie, It certainly did solve a problem but Too horrible to think about.

Azie09 Sun 06-Aug-17 22:38:05

Paddyann don't you think it's a case of 'be careful what you wish for'?! Looking around the present Government I can see plenty of spoilt, entitled adults! God help us if they were top of the tree! grin

Azie09 Sun 06-Aug-17 22:35:00

I've never been a Royalist but the documentary made by William and Harry and now this have been eye opening. Diana had terrific charisma and was so badly treated by the rest of the Royals. I agree that Charles clearly was such a shit, lies written all over his face and a horrible smirk he kept trying to hide. As in the other programme, Diana's love of children shone through. I've always thought William and Harry looked like people who had been properly loved.

Strange though that attempts were made to stop this programme being aired. It certainly wasn't shocking in any way and background manipulation has to be suspected. I've never bothered much about puzzling over conspiracies surrounding her death but tonight I'm wondering!

Though not particularly a monarchist i have always felt that diana was in an impossible position. I have little respect for the way charles behaved. He was mature, she was so young. Who can forget his 'whatever love means' comment when they got engaged. Doomed and very sad.

paddyann Sun 06-Aug-17 22:30:30

it in the past ,cant be changed ,lets just get rid of all royalty when Lizzie dies .That should solve the problem of spoilt ,entitled adults.Theres certainly more than one in that family

mrsmopp Sun 06-Aug-17 22:24:54

He is a selfish spoilt prat. He really thinks he did nothing wrong. No idea. He's always had everything he wanted. Can't bear him or Camilla. King and Queen? Ugh.

Jane10 Sun 06-Aug-17 21:08:46

'Diana' in her own words'. Don't know why my phone keeps changing it to Diana's!

Jane10 Sun 06-Aug-17 21:06:18

Just watching this now. My God what a shit Charles is!
Absolutely no respect for him.
