I watched to re run of the last two episodes of Line of Duty on playback just to refresh myself as the new series starts this Sunday. Oh my God!!! it was riverting I had forgotten how much, I found myself shouting for Kate to 'be careful' when she was chasing Cotton in the final scenes, cant wait for the new series now. Anyone else watched the re runs??

Terribull if Thandie is a big Hollywood star perhaps they could only afford to pay her for one episode ?
I thought her character was scary. Nearly jumped out of my skin at the end! Love this programme, can't wait for next week.

Just watched it. Wow, that was brilliant!!! shock And it has Lee Ingleby in too!! blush

gulligranny Mon 27-Mar-17 17:26:05

Having a bit of a problem with Jason Thingy as I can only ever see him as Simon Harwood in W1A .... however, it was all so fast-paced and brilliant as ever, so I can overlook that. I just love Adrian Dunbar as Ted Hastings, he says so much just by narrowing his eyes!

Kittye Mon 27-Mar-17 17:46:17

gullygranny I can only see Jason thingy as the store manager in Trollied. He was good last night as the "weirdo" though.

I very rarely buy DVDs but I loved Line of Duty so much that I bought Series 1,2 and 3.

I was really looking forward to the new series but was a bit disappointed when I watched it. It seemed exceedingly melodramatic to me, but I'm hoping it will get better.

Sar53 Mon 27-Mar-17 19:17:52

I loved it, can't wait till next week. I enjoyed the first 3 series and hope this one doesn't disappoint.

Iam64 Mon 27-Mar-17 19:46:52

Just watched it as I was away last night. Phew!

Lazigirl Mon 27-Mar-17 19:50:04

I agree PRINTMISS and Lona. I thought the last 10mins was quite unbelievable, I would like it at least vaguely to reflect, RL, but will continue watching as I really enjoyed the last series.

BlueBelle Mon 27-Mar-17 20:08:00

I haven't seen it before so was really looking forward to it I did enjoy it but found it a bit far fetched hope it reflects reality a bit more in the next episode

rosesarered Mon 27-Mar-17 20:50:44

Hmmm, well, it was good, but I found it a bit too far fetched as well, plus a bit obvious , will have to see what happens next.
Yes, rather a lot of Thandie Newton staring into space.?

Bobbysgirl19 Mon 27-Mar-17 22:26:31

Thank you tanith will definitely watch it.

trisher Mon 27-Mar-17 22:29:18

I agree about the far-fetched element. Think it went for sensationalism rather than the slow tension build up it has used before.

durhamjen Mon 27-Mar-17 22:49:59

How do we know what reflecting reality is?
Does anyone know anyone who works in forensics or police complaints?

Jalima Mon 27-Mar-17 23:53:00

I haven't watched it, perhaps I should then I can judge.
They never usually get these things right anyway, they are always sensationalised.

cornergran Tue 28-Mar-17 00:11:16

Just watched this. Thoroughly enjoyed it so it will be Vera on catch-up next week.

gettingonabit Tue 28-Mar-17 08:46:06

I think it is mainly accurate. The Police didn't advise; apparently the advisers were mainly ex-police and associates.

Maybe a bit close to the bone? Police corruption isn't exactly unheard of....

trisher Tue 28-Mar-17 10:07:12

It isn't the police corruption or the forensic complaint that is far-fetched. It is the police officer turning up at a colleague's flat and getting into a fight with him. SPOILER ALERT I wondered about the frying pan on the cooker. In my experience if left on they tend to give off clouds of smoke and set off alarms. If he had turned it off would it have stayed hot enough to burn his hand? Oh not to mention how well he manages things even with a badly burned hand.

henetha Tue 28-Mar-17 10:11:24

I loved the first episode of the new series. In my opinion this is one of the best police programmes ever on tv.
I find it absolutely compulsive, and am sure this series will be as good as the other three.

rosesarered Tue 28-Mar-17 10:12:25

Exactly trisher what I thought too.
That whole scene of arguing and pushing and shoving in his own home was ridiculous.
Mind you, at the end of the last series, having armed guards in riot gear and guns at The ready in the office where Arnott and then Cotton were being interviewed at AC-12
Was also ridiculous.

nanasam Tue 28-Mar-17 10:22:24

DH and I sat through the whole of Series 1 yesterday! We'd heard so much praise for this drama. Series 2 tomorrow, then we can catch up with the current episodes. Talk about square eyes!

tanith Tue 28-Mar-17 12:50:07

rosesarered I still wonder what on earth planet they were on with those armed guards too. grin

Maggiemaybe Tue 28-Mar-17 15:18:39

nanasam, you still have series 3 to watch as well...smile I've just been emptying my cupboards to see if the DC ever gave me series 1 on dvd, but no luck - I have found several unwatched series of Mad Men, The Tudors and Rev, but they're not calling out to me in the same way!

Thank goodness it's not too realistic - it's a drama, not Slow TV! Police officers do socialise, meet up and yes, argue with each other off the job, like any other work colleagues, so I'm prepared to go along with the scene at the forensic bloke's flat. She knew the address, so they must know each other pretty well.

Can't wait for episode 2!

Mamie Tue 28-Mar-17 15:26:35

I hadn't seen it before but am binge watching on Netflix and have just started Series 3. As we are in France I have a French Netflix subscription and although the dialogue is in English anything written - including what happened at the end - is sub-titled in French. I have no problem understanding it, but my brain has to do a sharp re-boot. ?
Very good though, not sure why I haven't watched it before.

gettingonabit Tue 28-Mar-17 18:26:49

I don't see why Thandie turning up at Ifield's flat was odd either. They obviously had history. However she did leave her mobile behind. Why? To avoid triangulation? What happened to the husband after he set off with the phone, apparently pulled up at the flat but wasn't seen afterwards?
