At last, something I can eagerly anticipate each week!

Shysal, I THINK you were supposed to think that Mr Garland's dropped cigarette was going to cause a fire, but in fact it wasn't going to, but a bomb conveniently did!!! As you can see, I got a bit confused at the end!!!!!

Newquay Thu 23-Feb-17 16:23:30

I thoroughly enjoyed it and there's certainly enough for a further series. . . .

Sunlover Thu 23-Feb-17 16:19:25

I knew Betsy had died and I thought he was also dead but then hubbie thought it was Sonny kneeling by her body. It was too dar to tell.

Welshwife Thu 23-Feb-17 10:12:48

The sirens had gone and they had mentioned moving everyone into the shelter after the song. The bang was a bomb going off - it hit the hotel.

shysal Thu 23-Feb-17 10:02:04

Perhaps I am thick, but I thought the explosion or fire, or whatever it was, was due to Mr Garland's dropped cigarette end. The camera focused on it, so I was waiting for something to happen as a result.

Luckygirl Thu 23-Feb-17 09:36:17

I lost the plot at the end too - the screen was very dark (we have it that way t stop my migraines) and I was on my way out. I presume that both were dead, but it was hard to tell.

I enjoyed the series very much - pity I lost the plot at the end!

PRINTMISS Thu 23-Feb-17 09:02:46

I enjoyed it, although some of it was again very much 'in the dark' and the o.h. kept complaining! I think there is a follow up which should be interesting.

Welshwife Thu 23-Feb-17 08:28:16

He died and so did Betsy - the singing was a sort of dream - or that's what I concluded - could have been equally confused though!

Bluegayn58 Thu 23-Feb-17 08:09:33

Quite enjoyed the storylines and some of the characters but for me it was too 'clean' for a wartime bombing area e.g freshly tarmaced road outside the hotel, clean cars etc.

Sunlover Thu 23-Feb-17 07:59:10

I'm a bit confused as to what happened to Sonny! Sorry for being thick!

Elrel Wed 22-Feb-17 22:28:02

I'll never hear 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square' again without remembering Betsy and Sonny and feeling sad.

Coolgran65 Tue 21-Feb-17 15:23:35

Have watched the whole series, and then fell asleep 10 minutes into last night's final. !!

nigglynellie Tue 21-Feb-17 12:29:24

I think the 'police' MIGHT have asked what was behind those closed double doors!! They MIGHT even have asked, demanded to have a look!!!! But, despite that and the curiously clean floor and convenient bomb (!) I loved it, and hope there'll be another series.

Welshwife Tue 21-Feb-17 09:30:45

I must admit that I thought he managed to get the carpet clean somewhat fast!

Lona Tue 21-Feb-17 09:21:41

I really enjoyed it too, but weren't they lucky that the body was in the bombed bit?!
Also, I wish I could clean up a mess so quickly! grin

shysal Tue 21-Feb-17 09:17:53

Ooh err! I really enjoyed last night's final episode! I can't wait for the next series!

00mam00 Mon 20-Feb-17 22:38:40

I have enjoyed The Halcyon to a degree, but of course it couldnt match Poliakoff's 'Close to the enemy'.

MawBroon Mon 20-Feb-17 22:28:01

gringrinwelshwife they were only acting (I think!)

Welshwife Mon 20-Feb-17 22:17:31

I should have said characters alive!!

Welshwife Mon 20-Feb-17 22:17:01

It is only 1940 still and they have enough of the cast alive to go for another series.

merlotgran Mon 20-Feb-17 22:06:56

I wasn't sure about this to start with but ended up enjoying it. Sorry it has ended.

I wonder if they'll do another series?

carerof123 Sun 08-Jan-17 08:53:25

J52 i remember the Duchess of Duke street and loved that series, along with Forsthye Saga and Upstairs Downstairs.

nigglynellie Thu 05-Jan-17 21:12:53

Have just watched it and thought it was very promising. There are certainly undercurrents that will unfold as time goes on! Oh yes, I'm looking forward to episode 2! As roses says we can't always be watching serious mind improving progs!!

DanniRae Thu 05-Jan-17 14:28:35

Husband enjoyed it - I wasn't so sure but will watch next week. To be honest I'm not very good with dramas prefer real life stuff.

rosesarered Thu 05-Jan-17 11:54:32

Well, I enjoyed it very much, light entertainment, but we can't always be watching deep meaningful drama or documentaries can we?
Just perfect for having a cup of tea and the last of the Christmas chocs with.blush
