What an awful year this has been. Started playing his music in 1968 and he has also been the soundtrack to my life. I am so pleased that I saw him twice during his most recent tours and they were among the best experiences of my life - a lovely, talented man

The soundtrack to my youth and many later years. RIP Leonard.

Oh the hours I spent listening to his music in my teens and feeling more and more depressed, but loving it!!!

DaphneBroon Fri 11-Nov-16 10:41:57

What is your problem grannylyn, does a "respectable" period of time to elapse before one is allowed to pay tribute to a leading musician of our time?
How long do you suggest? A day, or longer? hmm

Anniebach Fri 11-Nov-16 10:19:47

RIP and thank you for the words and music

Anniebach Fri 11-Nov-16 10:18:35

Why not? Why are some people so hell bent on nit picking ?

henetha Fri 11-Nov-16 10:17:09

I found his songs and his voice mesmerising. He will be missed by many.

grannylyn65 Fri 11-Nov-16 10:14:41

Why are people so hell bent on being first to announce a persons demise??

For a kid from rural Switzerland, waking up to Cohen singing Suzanne at the Isle of Wight was just magical. I'll never forget ... and still can't listen to that song without tears in my eyes.

RIP Leonard, loved his music.

Oh no! The tracks to so many late night chats after evenings out and parties in my youth. Thank you Leonard for music and words that touched my soul. Suzanne will still feed someone tea and oranges, and the Sisters of Mercy are not departed, they live on after you. RIP

Not my cup of tea either. The master of the dreary dirge.

hildajenniJ Fri 11-Nov-16 09:22:16

I was one of Leonard's biggest fans, but he didn't know. Thank you for Hallelujah Daphne, it brought a tear to my eye. Rest in Peace Leonard Cohen.

Well maybe I'm not the right demographic or simply musically and poetically illiterate, but I have never "got" Leonard Cohen. Am I the only one?
