I was looking forward to it but its mainly about JL, as ever. I like her in a way but I just wish she wasnt so in your face on these travel docs which could be so interesting otherwise. Joanna - stick to being Patsy ....please!

Loved the Trans Siberian railway one and must catch up on this soon! Like JL a lot!

DH is enjoying this and I'm enjoying seeing the country and customs but I do find JL a bit irritating.

DS1 lived, worked and married in Japan and we visited 3 times in all. Apart from in Nagasaki, the Japanese people were kind, helpful and unfailingly polite, even DS'S ex! In Nagasaki we felt slightly discomforted by the way people looked at us but a young couple, realising that we had taken the wrong bus, offered to take us to the Peace Park.

We were based in Osaka which was quite busy enough for me.shock

I love this programme, and Joanna. If I could be anyone else it would be Joanna Lumley.

I found this programme out of boredom but thoroughly enjoyed it. I've never even considered going there. (Dad out East in the war and not a fan of the Japanese). It looks a beautiful and fascinating place but I'd never go. I suppose due to an old fashioned sort of loyalty I found myself debating as I watched. I thought Joanna was a refreshing change as a presenter.

You're in for a treat kittylester. I'm loving her reaction to everything, her sense of wonderment and her interaction with the people she meets - and then last night she was hilarious when she visited the viewing spot for Mount Fuji, and also her comment regarding the 'male and female' waterfalls. ?

I haven't watched this yet but have it on record. I absolutely love Japan and Joanna Lumley!

I really like Joanna Lumley and don't know that much about Japan, so have been drawn to this programme. Tokyo would be my worst nightmare, Times Square was my least favourite part of New York and Tokyo with it's heaving population and perpetual neon lights would not appeal to me. I do find aspects of their culture bizarre at times, particularly middle age men engrossed in the teeny bopper girl group, a form of escapism I guess. I shall continue watching.

I won't be watching it, sadly, as anything with JL in is about her and not what she is talking about. She is on my list of irritating presenters.....sorry.

I loved this too. How absolutely gorgeous is Joanna Lumley ? Agree that the business men watching the masked girly show was very odd (to say the least) Rosieroe but Japan in itself is somewhat of an enigma.

I would love to,see the beautiful countryside which looks amazing. Not too sure about Tokyo and the masked girl show. Strange. Mind you what fun it would be to go,with Joanna. She is such fun.

Great programme. I want to go there!

Joanna's introduction this week included the phrase "an unfathomable matrix of discombobulation". ??? I love this woman! ??? The programme is amazing.
