...that there are no threads yet on Poldark? grin

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 02-Sept-16 11:35:06

Excellent! A trip to the library is on the cards methinks...

merlotgran Fri 02-Sept-16 10:46:24

Well worth a read, Lucy.

I didn't bother re-reading Book 1 and started with Demelza - Book 2. I finished book 5 by the end of last winter so I guesss you could say I was hooked!!

No doubt the new series will have me downloading book 6. I think there are ten in all!!

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 02-Sept-16 10:33:23

Lullydully ooh Sean Bean - completely agree there <swoons>

Same for Aiden Turner and Lord M. Good old period dramas...

merlot are the books worth a read?

annodomini Fri 02-Sept-16 10:30:45

I'm with Charley and all the other non-watchers. I saw one episode and didn't take to it at all. Sorry!

Jalima Fri 02-Sept-16 09:36:35

Is it me? The BBC doesn't seem to have many original thoughts these days; they keep doing re-hashes of their old successes as if they have run out of ideas.

Jalima Fri 02-Sept-16 09:33:45

Can't say I am over-excited!

However, Cold Feet - can't wait, hope it's not a let-down, anniebach!

It can't be on at the same time as Poldark though, because Lord Melbourne (sorry, Victoria) is on at that time. Daft, but worth watching for Rufus.
Ross is just a little boy.

Greyduster Fri 02-Sept-16 09:14:55

Yes, Lully but who can resist a man in uniform!!!

Anniebach Fri 02-Sept-16 08:30:10

Doesn't Cold Feet start next Sunday ?

I have no interest iin this Poldark remake, loved the original series,

Anya Fri 02-Sept-16 08:22:49

Poldark who? confused

LullyDully Fri 02-Sept-16 08:18:06

What is it about 18th century costumes and men? Sean Bean was wonderful in Sharpe but not so in modern gear? I shall watch Poldark, my guilty pleasure. Then Dragon's Den on catch up.

Nelliemoser Thu 01-Sept-16 23:46:23

It does not appeal to me in the slightest. I don't like these swashing and buckling period dramas at all whoever is in it.
That's another Charleygirl here.

Deedaa Thu 01-Sept-16 23:25:59

I was living in Cornwall when the first series was on. one Sunday evening - it was the week after we finished with the cliff hanger of Ross hiding from the soldiers- we had a thunder storm and all the power went off.Disaster! On Monday morning the mobile library came to the village. We all gathered there complaining about missing Poldark and it turned out that the librarian had been able to watch it! So instead of choosing books we got her to recount the entire episode.

Maggiemaybe Thu 01-Sept-16 22:58:00

I can't wait! I was living abroad when the first adaptation aired so missed it, but I loved the books and loved the first series of this one. Roll on Sunday (and I'll be watching Victoria afterwards as well). Perfect.

Nana3 Thu 01-Sept-16 22:43:56

I will definitely be watching, I love Sunday evening drama, Sheer escapism.

DanniRae Thu 01-Sept-16 22:14:52

I didn't watch it first time round and not watching this version. Not my type of thing - but if it's yours I hope you enjoy itwink.

Ana Thu 01-Sept-16 22:00:46

grin

merlotgran Thu 01-Sept-16 21:55:32

I don't know, Ana but whatever it was I definitely saw it! grin

Ana Thu 01-Sept-16 21:53:20

I agree about Angharad Rees, she was wonderful in the part. But what on earth did we all see in Robin Ellis? confused

Deedaa Thu 01-Sept-16 21:33:05

Loved the original series but I thought the new one was very disappointing. Apart from Ross and Demelza all the characters seemed to be interchangeable, and the new ones aren't a patch on Robin Ellis and Angharad. Don't think I'll bother with it anymore.

merlotgran Thu 01-Sept-16 21:22:39

Thank goodness for ITV+1. I'll be able to watch Poldark then Lord M.

Haven't told DH the glad tidings yet.

Iam64 Thu 01-Sept-16 20:11:51

I didn't watch either but I'm loving Lord M in Victoria.

M0nica Thu 01-Sept-16 19:58:21

Don't like Dragon's Den either. I will probably be knitting or sewing.

M0nica Thu 01-Sept-16 19:57:14

Another 'Charley' here.

Auntieflo Thu 01-Sept-16 18:35:30

Same as Charleygirl

NonnaW Thu 01-Sept-16 18:33:09

Never watched it, won't this time either
