I'm also impressed with the energy of someone who can still be doing what they do best at 79.

He is indeed inspirational. I have just seen his old film, Spirit of 45, which is so appropriate today as the NHS is gradually being dismantled. It is about the period just after WWII, and shows the extreme poverty but also the spirit of optimism there was under Clement Attlee's Labour government, with the founding of the NHS, and expansion of welfare state. I love him!

I hope his new film has the same effect on many in this country as his tv play Kathy Come Home did. But I fear the response now will be - he is a leftie or he is another champagne socialist . Easy to dismiss him than accept the truth

Clever man, a man on the left who can tell the truth through art

Ken Loach has just won at Cannes for a film about the punitive UK benefit system.
He's 79. Inspirational.
