And away we go again!

Elrel Sat 09-Apr-16 18:40:11

On Friday Ursula was called to the hospital because Rob had developed an infection and his condition had deteriorated. It could yet be murder which would change the situation.

merlotgran Sat 09-Apr-16 18:59:18

Henry said he saw Helen stab Rob but wouldn't he also have said that Daddy was shouting at him and frightening him?

Maybe the police have a way of only extracting the imformation they can use in their favour when they are determined to find somebody guilty.

I think babies can stay with the mum in prison in special mother and baby units, but what if the mother is on remand? And undergoing a trial? And a bit doolally? Surely the baby maybe placed with relatives then?

Iam64 Sat 09-Apr-16 19:18:45

The baby could be with his mother in prison - Styal in Cheshire has a good mother and baby unit. Pregnant women given birth at the local hospital and return to prison with their babies.

There is also a mother and baby unit at the local hospital, Wythenshawe where mothers with serious psychiatric difficulties can stay with their babies. I'm more familiar with its use for women with post puerperal psychosis than mother's who stabbed their partners but I'm sure if it was the right place, they'd take Helen.

merlotgran - nope no way would the police only try to extract information they can use in their favour if they're determined to find someone guilty. They'd be slaughtered (metaphorically) by the Judge if they did that. The whole emphasis of police/sw training is to enable them to help the child tell its story, without leading the child in any way. Best Evidence Interviews aren't perfect but they are the best we have, currently.

I think you should have a word with the SWs, Iam grin

Rob and Helen: The Full Story interesting listening!

Gracesgran Sun 10-Apr-16 12:53:27

After the toe curling Rob and Helen: The Full Story this link may explain why it is going to take so long to come to trial.

Domestic abuse in The Archers: putting the storyline into context

Elrel Sun 10-Apr-16 14:53:04

Gracesgran. - Thanks for the links, both interesting. I am now going to concentrate upon real life - until the next episode ...

merlotgran Sun 10-Apr-16 19:38:47

Good old Countryfile were hot to trot tonight with a feature on domestic abuse in rural areas, linking it to the Archers storyline.

There was even a brief bit with Rob and Helen and Sean O'Connor.

I couldn't resist a 'Boo......Hiss!!!'

Gracesgran Mon 11-Apr-16 08:45:06

It's here *Merlotgran*

LullyDully Mon 11-Apr-16 08:54:21

Weirdly I do feel a certain relief now we don't have to listen to Rob night after night. blush

merlotgran Mon 11-Apr-16 09:57:35

Er.....Pat, have you thought of sleeping in Henry's room with him because he's having terrifying nightmares?

That way, Henry is comforted and Tony can get a good night's sleep.

Simples! smile

Gracesgran Mon 11-Apr-16 10:14:19

For all that they would be in prison I imagine that real Helen's would too LullyDully sad

Elrel Mon 11-Apr-16 19:26:48

I found this evening that TA signature tune prompted not my usual mild anticipation but a wondering what depressing aspect would pop up next. Relieved to have a mixed bag of items instead of the Titchenor saga.
Good for Jill for unearthing Carol's barrister daughter. Now let's unearth poor Stefan. Did I really hear grandmother Jill referred to as Helen's 'aunt'?!
Time Shula mentioned Rob attacking the anti hunt demonstrator and Richard Locke recalled why Rob looked familiar ...

merlotgran Mon 11-Apr-16 19:35:51

Great Aunt isn't she?

Iam64 Mon 11-Apr-16 19:57:37

Hurrah for Jill, Carol and her barrister daughter.
Jill is always to be relied upon to know someone useful and to organise things. It doesn't matter if it's cake baking or keeping things calm within the family, she'll be humming Jerusalem and making cakes as she wanders happily and purposefully through life.

Gracesgran Mon 11-Apr-16 20:40:43

I can't think Jill is related to Carole in any way (could easily be wrong though). I thought Carole's daughter was/is Jill's Goddaughter.

Elrel I have a feeling they will spread it out a little more because listeners are a bit overwhelmed by it all, and I agree - a bit of normal calving, etc., (I know it wasn't normal but you know what I mean) certainly helps.

Will Shula mention the Hunt demonstrator - after all she let Rob off the hook with the police to protect the hunt?

Will Ian admit he was manipulated to separate him from Helen - after all it will not put Adam in a good light and Adam does not know what Rob said to Ian?

Will Charlie admit to the blackmail re the New Year's Eve kiss - he didn't want anyone to know before?

Will the cricket team complain about the sledging - after all they won?

Will anyone remember Stefan and check if he is visiting his mother?

What is the thing - if anything exists - with Dr Locke?

Where did the dog come from and did anyone know about it (Stefan?)?

Rob picked on easy targets and I wonder if any of them - and if so who - will stand up an be counted now?

merlotgran Mon 11-Apr-16 21:27:27

Did anyone say Jill is related to Carol? Have I missed something?

In a RL village people would be commenting on whether or not they think Rob may or may not have a violent streak. Shula must surely be remembering the incident with the hunt sab.

Maybe the hunt sab himself will come forward.

Tony's comments to Pat about Henry dreaming that somebody is chasing him would have rung alarm bells with the old Pat. She was never soppy and indecisive.

It's all over the national papers.....Come on, Charlie. Ambridge needs you!!

Alea Mon 11-Apr-16 21:33:04

Carol's daughter would appear to be Jill's god daughter. Handy!

Gracesgran Mon 11-Apr-16 22:51:46

For Jill to be a Great Aunt to Carol's daughter Carol would have to be at least an in-law therefore related.

Sheath your claws Merlotgran and laugh at this

Gracesgran Mon 11-Apr-16 22:54:58

And another to keep us amused

merlotgran Mon 11-Apr-16 23:11:17

Sheath my claws??

Elrel queried Jill being referred to as Helen's aunt.

I replied that I thought Jill was Helen's great aunt.

I didn't say Carol's daughter was related to Jill . I know she is Jill's god daughter because I listened to the episode. confused

Gracesgran Mon 11-Apr-16 23:26:32

Ah - I misread that bit. My apologies but you have come over as quite sharp a couple of times and I was probably being over-sensitive to your comments smile Of course, I may have misunderstood that too.

This may help *Elrel*

NfkDumpling Tue 12-Apr-16 08:48:02

Thanks Gracesgran, that's most useful and fits my iPad page perfectly! (Where did Alice and Chris go? I forget. Did they leave Ambridge?)

Gracesgran Tue 12-Apr-16 09:31:14

The did think about leaving (Canada?) didn't they NfkD but I don't think they went. Perhaps we will hear more about these characters now the heat is off Helen and Rob a little.smile
