I am listening to a Thomas Hardy serial on Radio 4Extra and Timothy Watson (Rob) is playing a very dominating and controlling character, boy does he do these parts well!!

If you listen to Rob without knowledge of the past he sounds quite rational.........however!!!!!

That is, I would think, both the cleverness of the coercive-controller and the SWs LD. Everyone has their own truth in these circumstances - and they believe it themselves. I have divorced friends who have poor opinions of their ex and the decisions they make and I find I can often see the ex's point of view - I don't say so of course That is why it is going to be hard to put forward evidence that he is a coercive-controller because his evidence will show he is just an ordinary man trying to do his best in an extraordinary situation. I am hoping for the "bad character witnesses" to gather as Ambridge begins to understand and that they will come forward but most of them (because that is how CCs work) will have difficulty in doing so without opening their own can of worms

It is certainly subtle to make him sound plausible, after everything that has gone on. The pantomime daddy is careless writing.
It is easy to see bruises and injuries, even neglect, but this subtle erosion is hard to pin down. I think it is that side I have found so interesting and informative; so long as Anna can pull it off.

I am convinced he sees himself as the caring victim of the whole affair.
How will be manage now, that is also very interesting.

His response to Henry asking to go in out of the rain was chilling, as washenry's 'yess daddy'. It's all too horribly believable, that this little boy will be overly compliant with a parent like Rob.
I wish I could find Pips fling with one of the fair weather boys a bit of light relief but sadly, I don't. Harrison as cricket captain with Fallon doing the teas, that's more like it.

The 'yes daddy' was awful Iam. Children are so easily manipulated but whatever the abuse they sadly tend to still love the parent concerned. He is more likely to hold it against Helen for not being there for him I fear.

Well when Bruce is around you can certainly see where Rob gets it from. I don't remember much about him from when he came up when Rob was first in hospital.
Ursula is obviously scared of Bruce. I hate the way Rob demands instant instant obedience from Henry. Henry is already jumping to obey when Rob speaks. Most normal little children would prevaricate and try to wheedle a bit more time. That is more natural behaviour.

I know Pat has been a bit hopeless (!) but her request was reasonable. The problem of getting a passport in time may have been bad timing.

So Pat is offloading to Jennifer. That's the same Jennifer who chooses not to reveal that she, along with David, has reason to believe Rob blocked a culvert which led to catastrophic events in Ambridge.

Love Fallon + her enthusiasm for all things Brazilian but feel for Lynda. She's right. She has kept village life going.

Is Tom going on leave of absence once more??

I do hope not or Rob might try and get a foot in the door again seeing as he's still on the payroll and he has Mysons futures to think of.

Like the 'Alice' and 'Kate' stories..... Can do without the 'Pip and Toby' silliness, just doesn't ring true. Poor Lynda, I wanted to give her a hug.

I didn't expect Pip to fill the role of silly girl taken in by sex-seeking bloke. Debbie was an earlier one with Cameron somebody, and Brenda with Lilian's toy-boy. Pip seemed so practical and hardworking recently, Toby doesn't get early morning farm work. She'll be neglecting the milking next!
Much as I like Fallon I too felt for Lynda, she has worked hard over the years. Hard to overlook 'Resurgence' however!

Does anyone else listen out for the "Lynda Snell Sniff"? It's become a bit of a competition in our house!
