In loved him in "Our Zoo" , he was brilliant . The A word could be great but the Mother annoys me intensely to the point where I think I will have to stop watching . I don`t believe people behave like this when they have a SN child and yes I do have experience of looking after one . Saying that there are some good characters , the brother and the Dad are really authentic .

Alima I agree with you about Martin Shaw, I don't think he's all that good as an actor, 2 or 3 expressions and that's it. But he's well cast as G G.
And Lee Ingleby brings out the better side of him.

I also love Lee Ingleby, but does anyone remember seeing him in a televised version of " The Wind in the Willows" ? I think he played Ratty, and he was very good.

Lewis Collins was the other one, very handsome. Sadly he died not too long ago.

Did not watch George Gently at first as I cannot abide Martin Shaw. Luckily managed to get over that, find him such a smug so and so, as G G is very good and I like Lee Ingleby. Who played the other chap in The Professionals? So much nicer.

Of course in Gorge Gently he was completely overshadowed by the gorgeous Martin Shaw.

He's very good in the A Word. Don't fancy him though.

I do too Kitty. Think he looks quite different in the A Word, not in a bad way. Just that he is maturing nicely. It looks like he can act in something and become the character and not just himself.

I hesitated to put this on the 'A Word' as it is very flippant but I love Lee Ingleby. I always quite liked him in George Gently but in 'The A Word' I think he is really lovely blush
