I've been watching a lot of these recently, and ( sadly), find myself playing a kind of CDWM bingo! Upon opening the door, females must squeal, " Oooooh, look at you!" Others are;

" Not my cup of tea"
" It's got a bit of a kick"
" Right up my street"

I'm sure there are many more.

I haven't seen this for a long while but when I have it seems to include the guests going up to the host (hostesses) bedroom and rifling through there knicker draw and putting knickers on their heads and squealing with delight. There also seems to be a lit of nom nom nomming going on which drives me nuts. Don't watch it really!!

It started as a bit of fun but now is full of people showing off and being too competitive with tactical voting. They all live in mansions and are super rich. There's no normality anymore.

I forgot about " wow factor"!

And I agree it's now very contrived, so I'm watching older ones on catch up.

I loved it when it first started - in the early days it focussed on the joy of food, the pleasure of entertaining and there was an engaging sense of 'through the keyhole' without being too intrusive. These days it seems to run to a formula: find two people who are both very outspoken and will constantly try to out do each other, usually being 'blunt' (downright rude) along the way, one very camp gay, a sexist bloke who shocks everyone with his entrenched attitudes and a 'nice' person who is quiet and polite and comes through as the 'dark horse' on day 4. Shame, it used to be worth watching, not anymore.

That's true and more for the bingo sheet is "I wouldn't choose it in a restaurant" and "It wasn't Michelin/five star/not what you'd expect at a dinner party". These people are amateur cooks!

It just seems to be full of people you wouldn't want to be trapped in a lift with. A bit like Big Brother really.

"That was so rude."
"I've no idea what that is."
"I just can't eat XYZ"
"I've never made this before."

"This is really nice", followed, in 'private', by " It was tasteless/tough/etc".

I've never really understood why someone who is a vegetarian or is allergic to seafood etc. etc.wouldn't make this known beforehand - why put yourself and your host through the trauma?!! confused I tend to watch it on a Sat afternoon when nothing else is on and I'm making tea but agree it's not like it used to be.

"No effort whatsoever gone into that "
"Soup, such an easy starter"
"Something I would knock up on a weekday"
Bored with it all now, particularity since they introduced Couples come dine with me.

I'm bored too, Nansue. I think that's why I'm looking at other things!
Do you notice they nearly all have Le Creuset casseroles?
