Any opinions on first episode?

Gaggi3 Mon 28-Mar-16 09:34:29

Just to add to the confusion, Tom Hollander also appeared recently as the delightful eponymous hero of "Dr Thorne", on ITV I think.

I expected to be keeping Stansgran company behind the sofa but it wasn't quite as bad as I expected it to be. Great stuff though - really enjoyed it! Great casting.

The OH thought it was great. I watched the first episode then decided it would be just too suspenseful so didn't watch any more.

BRedhead59 Mon 28-Mar-16 09:14:15

Too much hype - not as good as many other drama's

Stansgran Mon 28-Mar-16 08:32:09

Spent most of it behind the settee or sitting in the corner listening but not looking. I'm a bit of a wimp.

PRINTMISS Mon 28-Mar-16 07:27:19

I agree with you Wilma. I really do not like high suspense and thought I was not going to enjoy the ending, but I really did, and very clever. Agree about Olivia Coleman too. Not going to say any more in case people have still to catch up.

I thought it was brilliant. Olivia Coleman is definitely my favourite British actress now. tbuwink

Can't decide, at the moment it feels like a bit of an anti-climax.
I won't say too much.

Jalima Sun 27-Mar-16 21:42:37

I may have to watch that episode again just to get it all sorted in my head!

LullyDully Sun 27-Mar-16 21:26:25

Nail biting stuff in the last episode. Found it very unnerving. No spoilers however....my lips are sealed.hmm

Jalima Wed 23-Mar-16 20:55:43

Poor Corky. He was such a bitch but I didn't want him to die.

rosesarered Wed 23-Mar-16 20:47:58

Cor! that last episode was edge of the seat stuff.Marvellous.

Jalima Wed 23-Mar-16 20:46:05

is wife for the chop?
it depends if the BBC stays true to the book or wanders off piste as they tend to do hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 23-Mar-16 13:50:25

Oh yes John LeCarre was the dining customer Pine did all the smooth apologising to

Thanks Floradora

whitewave Wed 23-Mar-16 13:36:55

Surprised it wasn't Roper who killed Korky - is wife for the chop?

Greyduster Wed 23-Mar-16 13:32:37

Another series? Don't think my nerves would stand it!

whitewave Wed 23-Mar-16 12:54:49

Isn't this just the best? There was a suggestion in my paper that there would be another series, not sure what I think about that?

whitewave Tue 15-Mar-16 09:18:11

Interesting - I never read anything about the celebrity world as my paper doesn't seem to do write about it, so I am always behind with what is going on. Mind you if I was totally honest I wouldn't read it anyway as I do find a lot of it tiresome. But Olivia whatshername is a good actress and appears to be someone with her feet reasonably on the ground.

Pittcity Tue 15-Mar-16 09:09:22

Her pregnancy had to be written into the script as Burr is a man in the book.
It was also filmed out of sequence so she was fatter then thinner then fatter, hence the scarves and sitting behind desks.
It accentuates the fact that she is a strong woman who is good at her job.

Love your post petra "widely known" grin

Jalima Mon 14-Mar-16 23:02:39

I mean to say that Olivia is in lovely locations, mine was not quite so exotic or sunny.

Jalima Mon 14-Mar-16 23:01:43

It's her 3rd child - how do they do it I want to know.

I managed to work but not far from home in lovely locations.

But now I have been sidetracked into watching an excellent piece of TV hopefully
But not in front of the children as they say grin

paulaevans Mon 14-Mar-16 22:58:24

You see now I've read all these I'm going to have to go on catch up and watch it. I was coming on to ask about Easter Panto in the bull theatre in Barnet or indeed any Easter ideas for my grand kids to do during the two week holidays. But now I have been sidetracked into watching an excellent piece of TV hopefully. Lol. Thanks guys

petra Mon 14-Mar-16 22:28:28

It is widely known that Olivier Coleman IS pregnant.
