My son loves 'Some Mother's Do 'ave em'. I am not sure how long DVD's last, but if ever ours wear out, we shall be lost.

Nina, we do not have Sky, I think DD watches on You tube.

Yes Dads Army is still funny as is Fawlty Towers, I don't think they made very many of either of those series. Great writing and characters. Some old ones are cringingly bad when you watch them now though.

Is is odd how some series have dated and others still seem OK. I think that Dads Army remains undated because it is set in a particular period of our history. One with its own rules and language which is instantly recognisable to those brought up with the war as a background or actuality.

Wonderful Likely Lads have been on recently. And Porridge and Rising Damp. Fantastic. Christmas was so lovely because of the old stuff.

I also settled down to the sad and heartwarming story from Deric Longden "Lost for Words" with Thora Hird and Peter Postlethwaite about Deric's mum. I met Deric and his wife. Sat there bawling my eyes out at it, but really enjoyed it, yet again. Then I watched my copies of early Birds of a Feather, series 1. Very funny, as they are now.

She also watches The Golden Girls when doing her ironing, or polishing silver,,,, not sure where that came from, the Ironing and the polishing !!!!!

I've looked at some of the old comedies I used to enjoy, like "Man About The House" and they seem so dated now - and not at all funny.

One that I quite enjoy (although it's not that old) is The Indian Doctor.

I like Dad's Army too.

Dad's Army is sometimes the only thing worth watching on Saturday nights.

However many did they make? I thought we'd seen them all but there are still some that I'm sure we haven't seen before.

Don't know if this counts but The World at War is being reshown on Yesterday in the afternoons. Brilliant!

I've been watching (re-watching???) episodes of Last of the Summer Wine including the very first series...priceless!

Yes, DH and I have been enjoying episodes of 'Only Fools and Horses' recently - fresh and funny as ever and comfortingly familiar.

I've been watching 'all creatures great and small' at around 5 every evening. I'm really enjoying it. It makes me relax and wind down, especially if work has been stressful. There's somthing comforting about watching these old
re-runs. Do any of you find these oldies do the same for you?
