Mr. Lombard phwa !!

Ana Mon 28-Dec-15 22:51:18

Well, a tense and satisfying (?) finale to the series, I thought. I've read most of Agatha Christie's books, but it was a long time ago, and although I had an inkling I deliberately didn't try to remember the ending.

(I do wish the BBC would stop warning us that we might find some scenes 'upsetting' prior to all their dramas though.)

rosesarered Mon 28-Dec-15 19:04:52

Anya did you have to say that!?

rosequartz Mon 28-Dec-15 15:13:02

I think I read the book when I was about 15 so, er, over 30 years ago blush and I can't remember the ending.
I'm a bit disappointed that it wasn't filmed on Burgh Island and the art deco hotel there, where I believe Agatha Christie wrote it. But of course, the mainland is accessible by foot from Burgh Island at low tide which would ruin the plot!

Anya Mon 28-Dec-15 15:05:27

Stansgran - are you visualising David Suchet just about wearing a towel and propping himself suggestively against a door post hmm

henetha Mon 28-Dec-15 14:40:18

I am seriously in lust with Aiden Turner.... Poldark and now Mr.Lombard...
it's more than flesh and blood can stand!

whitewave Mon 28-Dec-15 14:29:22

I also saw it in the summer in the theatre. Dialogue is different as well. I haven't read the book so would be interesting to see the original.

Stansgran Mon 28-Dec-15 14:06:16

I've read the book and can't remember a thing. Always thought Agatha Christie hadn't even a hint of sex in any book. Perhaps they should redo some of the others.

Bennan Mon 28-Dec-15 13:58:29

I saw this some years ago and have a faint recollection of the plot. I know that there is a real shock near the end but - nuff said!! grin

gillybob Mon 28-Dec-15 13:27:03

Oops sorry roses just ignore my ramblings. I'm almost always wrong anyway. smile

rosesarered Mon 28-Dec-15 13:18:24

Sssh, gillybob no guessing allowed!?

Badenkate Mon 28-Dec-15 11:54:11

Parts of it were certainly very enjoyable. It reminds me of watching George Clooney in ER many years ago and commenting that if I were ill I wouldn't object to having him as my doctor, only to be told by my 14-year-old son that I was very shallow ?

trisher Mon 28-Dec-15 11:43:15

Hadn't realised it was Poldark!!!?? You haven't been giving these programmes the careful attention they deserve Anya. I recognised him straight away-despite the hairstyle change! So pleased Mr Lombard didn't pack a dressing gown!

Anya Mon 28-Dec-15 09:21:09

I hadn't realised it was Poldark! Nice bod and smouldering eyes. What's not to like? grin

I reckon I've figured it out - who's doing it I mean. There's only one possibility.

Teetime Mon 28-Dec-15 09:12:14

Gripping and Mr Lombard in a towel just standing there looking at her - wow what a body and its great to see a man on TV with chest hair - nice!!!!

Marmark1 Mon 28-Dec-15 09:11:24

Yes I like it.Like Dickensian too,very good.

PRINTMISS Mon 28-Dec-15 08:36:10

Oh yes it does Iam64.

Iam64 Mon 28-Dec-15 07:23:17

It's a good cast isn't it. Charles Dance is always excellent, I confess to replaying (in my mind) the scene on the station in The Jewel in the Crown, where we first see him, broad shoulders, striding down the busy railway station platform.
What is it about this thread and attractive men?! This kind of preoccupation doesn't usually appear on gransnet tchwink

gillybob Sun 27-Dec-15 23:35:09

I am guessing it's her. The secretary woman. Dunno really but she's ever so shifty. Or else it's the judge..... He's getting back at the people he feels should have been hung for murder but got off ???? Yes that's it. It's def the judge.

Am I right? I am aren't I ? grin

Bellanonna Sun 27-Dec-15 23:29:31

Agreed Nina. That was an unexpected and special treat.

rosesarered Sun 27-Dec-15 22:41:46

Saw this at a theatre in Summer, but this tv production is much better ( even without Poldark in a towel.)So, I know whodunnit but promise not to tell.

hildajenniJ Sun 27-Dec-15 22:34:16

Oh but slow isn't it? How have they managed to spread it out over three hours?

Well acted though. Burn Gorman should be in more dramas.

rosequartz Sun 27-Dec-15 22:21:08

Much more hmm yes, well, in this than in Poldark, I don't know why!

However, I have always loved Sam Neill and then he was gone .....

Iam64 Sun 27-Dec-15 22:15:59

I didn't watch plod ark but having seen Mr Lombard in a towel, I begin to see the appeal

Ana Sun 27-Dec-15 22:13:55

Who cares what's going on as long as he's still in it? grin

merlotgran Sun 27-Dec-15 22:10:46

Can anyone tell me what's going on because I can't take my eyes off Poldark. tchblush
