Has anyone just watched the last episode?

(21 Posts)Not yet Tegan, we were out last night. I must make sure I don't read this thread until I've watched it!
I was hoping to watch the new Doc Martin series on replay. I watched a couple of episodes and now the new series has been replaced with an old series. I have Sky. Anyone else noticed this?
Yes just watched. Love the series and Saga, but I must admit I found a few things a bit confusing/unlikely. However the setting up of a new investigation into what happened to the children is promising. I do miss Martin though.
I think I may have to rewatch some episodes to understand what has actually happened. Iam; please let me know what you think when you've seen it. I find Saga one of the most endearing characters I've ever seen on television.
Yes, gone are my lovely Scandi Saturday nights. ? My husband (who is Danish) actually watched last night after only half-watching the rest of the series! I suppose it's easier when you don't have to read the subtitles.
It was a bit convoluted (not to mention totally ridiculous since the boy must have known that his birth father would have been oblivious to his existence!!!) but seemed to kind of come together in the end ... I do worry about Saga's mental state now though! Martin was a big miss, but I did quite like Hendrik.
Mostly I miss Sara Lund and The Killing ... and Borgen ...
I see we will be back in sunny Sicily on Saturdays again with "Young Montalbano". I believe this "Bridge" is the last series - I thought Saga was a wonderful character, still need to watch last night's two episodes. Can't wait for "War and Peace" to begin - remember watching it many years ago with Anthony Hopkins as Pierre and Alan Dobie as Andre, after which I read the book - all of it!
Same here dahlia; was a wonderful series, that. I'd love to watch these Scandi dramas and understand what they are saying. I understand that there are a lot of subtle jokes about the difference between the two countries, although I never know which country they're in at any given time.
Noo Daliha how do you know this is the last series of The Bridge I have only watched this one and really enjoyed it loved Saga thought the ending was leading up to start of new series

We enjoyed the Bridge though it was very unlikely. I like all the characters and their relationships. Thought I was confused because of being thick, maybe not.
Met BIL who lives on Oslo last weekend and he was keen to tell us what had happened.
Am assuming the police don't pay the bridge toll otherwise they may think twice about zipping back and forth. Seem to remember it cost quite a bit when we went across.
She did say she found the role very tiring; she has to keep her body very rigid when she plays the part. She is SO Saga that I forget she is acting. You have to suspend disbelief when you watch these Scandi drama; as I can never understand the plot anyway I find that quite easy.
I've just finished watching last nights two episodes on catch up. The Saga character just keeps getting better, I suppose I mean the actor keeps improving but also I do feel the writing is allowing the character to reflect more of her difficulties with empathy and emotions. It's brilliant and I'm not surprised the actor finds the role exhausting - I'm with Tegan, she is SO Saga you forget she's acting.
Yes suspend disbelief but I've had to do that with Prey and Luther this week, so I've had a lot of practice.
I love the organised Swedish detectives and the less organised Danish ones (I think it's that way round, best demonstrated by the wonderful Martin)
I hope dahlia is wrong and this isn't the final Bridge - I'm looking forward to Henrik and Saga having the freedom to investigate without the constrains they're under as police officers.
Blimey! - just watched the last two episodes on catch up - I need to go to bed now; I am quite exhausted!
Great acting though; and some clever cinematography.
I looked up the actress who plays Saga and she said she might do another series one day (if asked). As I have no experience of autism I don't know haw authentic her portrayal is, but it comes across as being very realistic, and the character tries so hard to learn to be like others, she is very endearing. I did get a bit lost in the plot, and Saga and her team went down a few wrong paths before they finally solved it, so perhaps they did too!
The only thing is, I do find the lighting in these series very gloomy and can't always make out what is going on.
SPOILER ALERT IN CASE ANYONE HASN'T WATCHED IT YET
.....I turned to the S.O. as it ended and said 'well, that was the weirdest 'happy ending' we're likely to ever see. But it was. The only other fictional character that I've wanted happiness for so badly was Edward Scissorhands....
I have an adult grandson who was diagnosed as on the ASD when he was about 8. I try not to think about his struggles with relationships and his desire to fit in when watching The Bridge but of course, some of the scenes make that impossible. The Saga actor is brilliant and I feel she must have spent time with the many very intelligent, sensitive individuals with this diagnosis. I do hope they do another series. Like others on this thread, I'm a Scandi addict and enjoyed Borgen, The Killing and did anyone else see The Legacy? As well as the great camera work and acting, I like the way the key female characters look good without being overly made up. I like the clothes as well (sorry for introducing a superficial note here)
Starbird - I do agree about the dim lighting. It has become a bit of a joke that I keep turning to my OH and saying "Why don't they just switch the blooming lights on?" The are always groping around with torches when they could perfectly well switch the light on.
At least they have torches. Gillian Anderson never had a torch with her in The X Files
.
I find the subtitles in these foreign detective series very helpful, and was surprised to read AA Gills review of the Bridge today, saying he likes subtitles . They help him concentrate and he is able to follow the story without having to guess because he's missed half of what is said.
That's the way I feel, as my hearing isn't 100% and I usually find it impossible to sit through nearly 2 hours of a programme.
Looking forward to more Montalbano.
Same here Tricia; I have subtitles on for everythinganyway [it only started when I activated them by accident and didn't know how to get rid of them
]. I can't understand any American programmes without them.
I read that the Swedes are speaking Swedish and the Danes Danish and that they understand each other! Talk about confusing.
* Iam64* I enjoyed The Legacy too.
