Is anyone watching this fast paced police drama? Set in and around the Brighton beach area.

I am loving it. Episode 4 this wednesday at 8pm (BBC). If you like this sort of thing it might be a good idea to catch up with previous 3 episodes first though. There are new cases every week but we do learn a little bit more relevant information about each character each time, so there is a story running within the story if you get what I mean.

Itis quite gritty for an 8pm slot and considering some scenes in this weeks episode I am amazed it can be shown before the 9pm watershed.

Can`t we start a Cuffs appeal?

Alima Tue 22-Dec-15 07:31:44

No, apparently it is because the viewing figures were not as high as they wanted. Shame, they often do that to progs I enjoy, remember Frankie about the district nurse which was axed after one series. Like you Jane 10 I enjoyed the characters in NT more than the stories.

Jane10 Tue 22-Dec-15 06:24:42

Are they not doing another series of Cuffs? I'd be sorry if they weren't. I always enjoyed NewTricks as well. Its not the actual crimes but the characters and the banter I liked. TV can be too gritty and NT was an excellent antidote to the hard hitting stuff.

I have it 10 minutes at the beginning and have up. Now wish I'd kept with it by all the remarks.

Hettie11 Mon 21-Dec-15 21:43:52

I really hope there is a second series best program on tv do a long time

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 18-Dec-15 09:06:47

New Tricks was too tame for me. (I think it was put out specially for the oldies)

Oh! I am one! tchconfused

Going a bit off thread here sorry, having been wathching a new programme on Sky Living called Blindspot and they play background music ( I suppose to make it more dramatic ) nearly all the way through it , it really spoils the programme for me does anyone else find this really irritating ?

Alima Fri 18-Dec-15 07:45:38

I still liked New Tricks with the new cast too annodomini, especially The Nicholas Lyndhurst character. I really enjoyed Cuffs, such a shame they aren't doing another series.

Bug180 Fri 18-Dec-15 07:29:36

Love it, I like the way it shows you their lives out of work too.

wotanuisanceABC123 Thu 17-Dec-15 21:59:05

I only watched cuffs because Brighton is my home town which I left in the 1970,s and still love it. Thought the show was "over the top"

Coolgran65 Thu 17-Dec-15 21:50:19

I loved the new ensemble in New Tricks

annodomini Thu 17-Dec-15 20:36:34

But New Tricks, with its new cast, was recovering nicely when they scrapped it altogether. I thought that Denis Lawson, Larry Lamb and Nicholas Lyndhurst made an excellent ensemble though I may be in a small minority in having that opinion!

Eloethan Thu 17-Dec-15 19:52:19

It's ridiculous isn't it, when series like New Tricks went on years and years after it was past its best.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 17-Dec-15 18:35:52

Oh no! (About Luther being a two-parter only) Stingy lot!

So, was that the last episode of Cuffs? And last ever? tchsad

Just when you think there's something decent to watch.... tchhmm

numberplease Thu 17-Dec-15 17:49:05

That will be a terrible shame if they end it there, so much more we need to know.

Daffodil51 Thu 17-Dec-15 13:15:42

I think it's brilliant ! All the actors are great although I do have a soft spot for Jake fingers crossed for a second series

Pittcity Thu 17-Dec-15 13:05:50

The last episode really brought things to a head.
I have just read that there won't be another series so there are things we never will know.

Eloethan Sat 12-Dec-15 01:03:50

I think it's really good. I like the way the characters have developed and also that the less high-powered parts of the job are shown - such as the two elderly ladies on a day trip who, a bit worse for wear, were escorted back to their coach by the police officers.

I don't know what the viewing figures are like but, if Gransnet is anything to go by, it seems to be fairly popular. I hope so because I'd like to see a return series.

My daughter and I don`t want it to finish. We`re also a bit peeved, we thought Luther was a new series, now we find it`s only a 2 parter, Grrr!!

Charleygirl Fri 11-Dec-15 21:08:20

petra it improved massively.

petra Fri 11-Dec-15 20:40:51

Watched the first episode and couldn't decide if it was a comedy or just extremely bad writing.

rosesarered Fri 11-Dec-15 11:02:50

Right ho!
