Went to see this film yesterday, well acted drama about young woman who leaves Ireland in the 1950s due to lack of opportunities for a better life in New York. Homesickness overwhelms her initially but she gradually adapts, acquires a boyfriend before events draw her back to the homeland. Bring your handkerchief, a bit of a weepy but well worth a viewing. Saiorise Ronan is very good in this, I remember seeing her first in Atonement as a young child. The story is adapted from a book by Colm Toibin, I haven't read any of his works before but I think I may now.

I read about this film in the Sunday Times - it does sound good, the kind of story I enjoy.

<pokes head in> Just so you know, we'll be posting an interview with Saoirse Ronan and Colm Tobin shortly, so watch this space smile

I know the book was very popular, Tobin is generally, but I couldn't get into it when I tried. It was me. I didn't plan to watch the film but might change my mind.

Saw the film this week, thought t a great story. Wondered whether she would be happy with Tonyas she was much more intelligent or would love prevail?
