Just watched episodes 1-3 on catch-up. It's really good (apart from Trevor Eve channelling Alan Sugar). I do like Sanjeev Bhaskar.

Anyone else watching it?

He was mesmerising, wasn't he? Gemma Jones was wonderful as well as his wife.

I just thought the son was punishing his mother, moving her drink out of reach, because her mental condition prevented her from by tried and punished for her alleged crimes. (Still not convinced, though, that her husband, the wonderful Tom Courtney, was innocent.)
Gosh all that, River and now The London Spy (which seems to have remarkable similarities to the case, a few years ago of the M15(?) guy found in a suitcase.

Just finished watching it, I don't think Courtney's character was bad, he protected his wife by burying the bodies. She asked him for a date , she wanted children immediately, was she not so gentle when younger? Perhaps the son has anger for his mother , her crime caused the father to become involved and so ended up in prison . I enjoyed the series

I didn't watch it until my sister said it was good so I watched five episodes on catch up yesterday (too late to get episode 1). It showed how the discovery of an old crime tore apart four families. I didn't get the don either.

I meant son not don! Duh!

Out of group curiosity how did we expect the blond son to behave? Shocked and unbelieving but supportive? Its a bit like a parent smacking a kid who got lost, isn't it? An unexpected reaction but nevertheless a human one. Suddenly your mildly irritating elderly parents are revealed to have been involved in the concealed murders of two people, one actually buried in your childhood garden. Not really surprising that one son, maybe bearing resentments about things from his own young days and worried about the nightmare to come, vented his anger. I couldn't blame him tbh.

But he was being slyly and deliberately cruel to his mother, putting that glass of water out of her reach. That's not lashing out in anger.

The question is, there will be another series, but it won't be about the same crimes or people, or will it?

It will probably be a different case entirely.
