Love the name mustgrumble!
Maybe the slurry pit could be persuaded to yield up a special Rob Titchener shaped space?

mustgrumble Sat 09-Jan-16 12:59:45

one credible outcome would be: once rumbled and kicked out, R murders H, child(ren) and then himself.

All I can say about the scary Helen Rob situation is that poor Helen who has always been a vulnerable person is a classic target for the likes of Rob. All praise to the script writers here for getting this right.

Rob really gives me the creeps but I will follow this situation on the basis of finding out how the script writers are going to resolve this story.

mustgrumble Sat 09-Jan-16 08:01:07

Murdstone once played by Trevor Eve on TV I think. TE would make an excellent Rob

Elrel Sat 09-Jan-16 00:01:48

Rob - Mr Edward Murdstone in David Copperfield I reckon
Helen - David's passive manipulated widowed mother Clara perhaps

archers obviously scripted and planned reactively, with an eye on the social media, so the more we tweet and fill the ether with rob-hate, the less likely they are to write him out. How many who say they can't bear to listen to him actually turn off?

I was interested to read (can't remember when) that the current editor likes to find plot themes in classics of literature. Who are the prototypes for R & H? Whoever they are, the resolution must surely be tragedy not just desserts and happy after.

Brian has strayed because its part of his nature and personality katie1. He also likes his cake and his halfpenny smile

katie1 Fri 08-Jan-16 19:45:22

Jennifer was feeling she was past it tonight and hadn't achieved anything ! If Brian thinks she is 'gorgeous' why has he strayed so many times?

Elrel Fri 08-Jan-16 19:41:21

Man up, Jenny, come over to Gransnet!

suzied Thu 07-Jan-16 17:39:02

So Rob has succeeded in alienating one of Helen' s best friends. It's all part of the plan...

Iam64 Thu 07-Jan-16 17:31:58

Thanks chelseababy, that fills out the gap in my knowledge very nicely grin
Rob is a wonderful villain. i feel sure that Ian now believes Adam had a number of 'flings' including a long fling with Charlie and further, believes Helen knew about all of this but didn't tell him.

chelseababy Thu 07-Jan-16 16:46:27

Actually think it might have been on the stag night!

Nelliemoser Thu 07-Jan-16 13:52:18

Chelsea Thanks for the memory jogger on that.

chelseababy Thu 07-Jan-16 10:33:53

No I think it was before the wedding R said it was good Ian and Adam were happy with their "open" relationship. Then R dropped in about the kiss and the fling that Jen had told him about. Ian pretended he knew all about it. The listener (me anyway) wondered if the wedding would go ahead. As far as I know Ian hasn't told Adam he know's.

Nelliemoser Thu 07-Jan-16 09:30:05

Merlot Helen told Rob more or less at the time (new year 2015 ) that she had seen them kissing, and by something Rob said at the time he clearly implied that that bit of gossip could be useful later.

I think that it was in a conversation between Rob and Jennifer where she let out more information about Adam's odd flings than she should have.
I think it was at the wedding that Rob made remarks to Ian about how good he was to forgive Adams flings.

Do correct me if this is not quite right.

Iam64 Thu 07-Jan-16 08:27:25

"good girl" - is beyond awful angry

I missed the episode when Rob told Ian that Helen saw Adam and Charlie kissing. Did others hear what was said? I'm wondering if he told Ian using some kind of context or phrasing that made Helen not immediately telling Ian even more distressing to him. I agree, it does seem out of character for a usually laid back character to behave in such a hurtful, nasty way to someone he'd seen as a close friend.

Has Ian confronted Adam yet? Will Adam build bridges between them and Helen? Will anyone ever notice that Rob's an abusive, manipulating *****?!

merlotgran Wed 06-Jan-16 22:38:41

Ian is being a bit harsh, I think. How on earth could Helen have told him what she saw? Adam is her cousin after all.

chelseababy Wed 06-Jan-16 22:26:47

Ian was not in a forgiving mood!

suzied Wed 06-Jan-16 22:06:08

"Good girl" is worse!

chloe1984 Wed 06-Jan-16 20:38:21

I'm just getting so frustrated at having to grit my teeth every time Rob says 'Darling' to poor dim pregnant Helen angry

Nelliemoser Wed 06-Jan-16 20:19:31

Chloe1984 I see your fertile imagination for script writing is back on top form! grin grin grin

merlotgran Wed 06-Jan-16 17:18:06

I agree with others about the cheekstrap. Shula would have noticed that it was broken or not correctly fastened and she would never have referrred to tack as harness. Presumably she wasn't riding a carthorse! hmm

chloe1984 Wed 06-Jan-16 14:27:32

I have a suspicion that he has spent the money on cctv cameras so he can monitor Helen's every move to obtain 'evidence' which will enable him eventually to have Henry and the new baby taken into his sole care . Helen will than become an eccentric strange lady who will be seen wandering across the village green dragging a cheese churn whilst looking for her lost children. Tony and Pat will adopt Rob and he will eventually inherit the farm, the shop and even Tony's new bull. Can't wait......

J52 Wed 06-Jan-16 14:15:28

He has expertly sidestepped the question about the money. I wonder what he did with it?
