The original one is full, having reached 1,000 posts shock, so I thought we could start again!

I do hope that isn't the outcome must grumble - but you are of course right, it would be credible.
My hope is that one of the young people, Fallon and Kirsty seem likely candidates, actually notice that all isn't well and talk to Helen, Pat, Tony and Adam about it.

Elrel Sat 09-Jan-16 23:08:05

Mustgrumble - that had occurred to me but I just hoped not. Although, sadly, it happens with controlling men, I wouldn't like to see (hear!) it overshadowing Ambridge. It also crossed my mind that Helen might be driven to violence.
A less despondent poster on Facebook suggested that Rob might, when exposed, seek treatment and, with Helen's support, recover. If only!!
My suggestion was less kind, Rob in flagrante with Kate in a yurt. I also thought Ian could become the latest fashionable celebrity cook and take off, leaving Adam behind.

Merlot - perhaps his hunting accident could leave Rob helplessly in Helen's tender care ...

I'm not an Archers' follower (ducks and hides behind sofa) but I do, however, hear bits of it once a week in the car en route to a regular appointment. I'm intrigued to know why the Grundys were facing Xmas in a one bed flat and a council care home.......

Nelliemoser Sun 10-Jan-16 00:02:12

KateK As you are not interested I will tell you. wink
A long while ago the Grundy's lost the tenancy of Grange Farm due to bad management.
They used to rent a property that was damaged in the floods, but the nasty woman who owned it decided to get it fully refurbished and slapped on a rent which is way beyond the Grundy's means so they were about to become homeless just before Christmas.

One of the Grundy boys had been keeping an eye on the Grange farm property while the owners were away travelling and after a burglary the owner let them move into the farm to House sit until their return.
To be continued.

Why doesnt Helen talk to Adam about it?

eebeew Sun 10-Jan-16 00:28:24

I mean about what happened between her and Ian?

suzied Sun 10-Jan-16 09:37:21

She is being convinced that it is her fault , thus undermining her confidence still further.

Iam64 Sun 10-Jan-16 18:02:11

I caught up with the omnibus until 30 mins before the end this morning, so apologies if I'm behind the times.
Firstly, Shula would never have used the term harness, its a bridle for goodness sake, secondly as someone said earlier, she's such a competent rider, she'd have sorted the thing out easily with Rob riding in like a white knight.
Ian and Helen's discussion was so sad. I simply don't believe that Ian would have responded to a distressed Helen in the way he did. Ah well, the script writer's are in charge, not me.

I agree eebeew - Helen must talk to Adam.

Wasn't the scene when Rob became angry "I don't know why I bother" very terrifying.

Lilygran Sun 10-Jan-16 18:18:35

But less gripping than the Rob plot but which college is Phoebe hoping to go to? I think we should be told! And why is her granny researching accommodation?

Elrel Sun 10-Jan-16 18:20:47

Oriel!

Iam64 Sun 10-Jan-16 18:22:49

Isn't her granny a riot Lilygran - talk about over excited. Mind you, if Kate was your daughter, wouldn't the wonderful Phoebe be a joy grin

HannahLoisLuke Sun 10-Jan-16 18:24:00

Replying to Mustgrumble about people ranting about Rob and saying they won't listen whilst he's still there but then listening anyway. My good friend stopped listening and won't come back to it until he's gone. She's not a part of social media either which is a shame as. I think she'd enjoy it.
Rob, though a vile character does add interest. We don't really just want stories about the milk yields, the WI and Lynda's awful Christmas productions do we?
Biggest highlight for me was the return of Scruff on Christmas Eve! I had a tear in my eye.

Me again. Sorry everyone, I've just joined Gransnet and am a bit over excited about all these fantastic discussions about everything I love including the Archers which I've listened to since it began when I was about 10.

Just wondering about the Grundys. Does anyone else think that Caroline and Oliver will retire to Italy leaving Roy in charge of Grey Gables and the Grundys at Grange Farm? How long before Eddie and Joe turn the yard into a dump and Joe sneaks his smelly ferrets into the house?

LullyDully Sun 10-Jan-16 20:40:23

Come on Kirsty!!!####

LullyDully Sun 10-Jan-16 20:42:19

Welcome Hannah.

Another Archers can.

Come on Kirsty...help us all out of our misery!!!!!!

LullyDully Sun 10-Jan-16 20:42:41

Fan not can!!!!!

HannahLoisLuke Sun 10-Jan-16 23:15:31

Thanks For the welcome LullyDully. Kirsty doesn't stand a chance, evil Rob is slowly cutting Helen off from all her friends. I can't believe her silly mother still hasn't seen the light but then these psychological abusers are very clever at charming people. Kirsty isn't fooled but she won't be allowed near Helen. Ian has been successfully got rid of. How much more can we stand !

yummygran1 Mon 11-Jan-16 16:17:50

Like most of the listeners and Gransetters, Rob's voice makes my skin crawl but I think it's addictive listening. I can't wait for him to get his 'comeuppance'. I agree though it might be a while yet as it's causing quite a stir on social media.

My other half who used to race to the radio to turn off at 2pm, has even began listening to it, pretending to only have a passing interest, and then keeps asking me who the various characters are and where they fit in.

It's a good job the actor who plays Rob is on the radio and we don't know what he looks like, he might have been lynched otherwise! I wonder if he disguises his voice when out in public?!

I've never been a big fan of Helen she always sounds so toffee nosed, but I'm beginning to feel a little sorry for her.

Luckygirl Mon 11-Jan-16 16:48:57

The actor playing Rob is actually quite sinister looking: file:///C:/Users/Hilary/Desktop/Rob%20T.htm

mustgrumble Mon 11-Jan-16 18:59:22

mind your back kirsty. Any body armour in your cupboard? If not, one of Shula's back protectors would be better than nothing. And a hat, while you're about it, Can't be too careful.

Elrel Mon 11-Jan-16 19:16:26

The Birmingham Post has a strap line about 'The Man who Sexed-up The Archers' apparently TA suddenly has a influx of new listeners outside their usual listeners' age group. I didn't buy the paper but may do if they still have a copy tomorrow.

NfkDumpling Mon 11-Jan-16 19:22:02

Why has no one seemed to have noticed that Helen's anorexia has returned? (except Kirsty)

NfkDumpling Mon 11-Jan-16 19:26:34

And .... is it me, or is the Archers getting shorter. I feel sure it used to be 15 minutes long

Luckygirl Mon 11-Jan-16 19:58:36

Yes - I agree that the preamble and general waffle seems to be eating away at the programme.
