Jeremy Vine is the first celebrity to be announced - will he be the first one off?

Charleygirl Sun 06-Sept-15 10:17:52

I enjoyed watching the professional dancers last night but I think that I will be joining the recording and fast forwarding brigade as the inane chat drives me crazy, so much time is wasted.

I agree, I am pleased that Anton got somebody half decent for a change and if Katie has two left feet, he will do his best to change that. She will have so much to learn that hopefully she will stop yacking.

Anniebach Sun 06-Sept-15 10:19:28

This year may be more interesting, voting may be fairer, when Widdy etc danced good dancers were leaving too early because votes were going for the most entertaining regardless of their dancing

Balini Sun 06-Sept-15 10:38:25

Wilmaknickersfit, I've just learned something new, I didn't know, they had actresses, or actors, on Eastenders or any of the other other soaps.

seadragon Sun 06-Sept-15 10:41:21

The make up seemed ageing too - especially for Carol. Glad it wasn't just me who thought the dress was all wrong for her.

Who was the person who had died?

Teetime Sun 06-Sept-15 11:58:52

Carol's dress was awful wasn't it? Made her look bigger than everyone else and she isn't- lets hope they give her something better soon.

Lona Sun 06-Sept-15 12:02:56

I could only manage a few minutes of Tess and her posturing although I love Claudia. I think I'll be watching on catch up and ff through the rubbish!

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 06-Sept-15 12:45:58

Even though I already knew all the pairings, I still loved watching the launch show. What a glamfest it was! Tess and Claude are so relaxed working together now and it must be much more enjoyable for Tess not to have to worry about Bruce because he wouldn't wear an ear piece.

Lots of contenders this year, although I think Peter and Jamelia will be strong from the start. Plenty of time for the rest of the pack to catch them up though! wink

Daniel was even worse than I expected and speaks so slowly! Nice man or not, he might be the most boring celeb we've ever had on the show!

I loved the colour of Carol's dress, but the style didn't do her any favours, especially around her bust. Here's hoping she will be one of those celebs who gets more daring as the weeks go by.

It wasn't the new male pros who caught my eye (there's time yet!), it was Otile! She is stunning and might be my secret girl crush for this year! grin

Bit disappointed that Natalie didn't get a real contender, but Ainsley does have a serious side and he'll be working hard to do well. Ola has her hands full with Iwan! When he picked her up she broke a nail, tore her skirt and had a boob malfunction that thankfully was hidden by her hair! shock

3 weeks is so long to wait!

PS I usually find out the result on a Saturday night, so if anyone is interested on here I could start a spoiler thread. Let me know. wink

rosesarered Sun 06-Sept-15 14:06:13

only heard of half the contestants, celebrity is an overused word.I will watch this series though pre recorded, so can whizz through all the judge bits and inane banter from presenters.Just watch the actual dancing.smile

Gagamarnie Sun 06-Sept-15 14:13:18

I'm all for an insider-information spoiler thread, WilmaKnickersfit! I agree with other posts that Claudia is a great presenter and Tess did seem a little nervous and hesitant last night on the "live" show. (I wish she would learn to say "judges" and not "joodges" though!) Poor Carol just looked embarrassed in that frumpy dress, and Katie looked like a giggling teenager. Anyway, all I can say is I'm glad I'm not taking part and can watch the whole thing from the comfort of my sitting room, with no-one to criticise me! Peter to win!

merlotgran Sun 06-Sept-15 14:38:57

I hate the way they alter the appearance of the more mature contestants to tick a particular box. They did the same with Jennifer Gibney last year. She's an attractive woman but they gave her silly hairstyles and frumpy dresses. Carol Kirkwood deserves better.

annodomini Sun 06-Sept-15 14:54:40

But...although someone badly misjudged her dress, Carol has landed Pasha and Anton has got Katie Derham who might be considered a 'more mature' contestant. I suspect that Peter André will have all the moves but there's sure to be a dark horse or two.

Grannycupcake Sun 06-Sept-15 15:38:24

I hope Carol doesn't get frumpy dresses all the time. Is she the oldest woman on the show? I hope she is paid plenty for this. At least she will have the benefit of losing weight.
I thought I detected a weight loss in the run up.
Maybe this just
shows that I have gone off SCD. Went off it when they had Susannah Reid.

Lona Sun 06-Sept-15 15:54:46

Just watched it, minus the inane chat! I thought the beginning was great, with the train and I loved the dance when Gregory was singing Putting on the Ritz.
I didn't think Carol K looked too bad, the dress made her waist look small and I think she's asked for her legs to be covered up if possible.

Charleygirl Sun 06-Sept-15 16:46:11

For me it was mainly the colour of Carol's dress because all of the other females were dressed in light coloured outfits whereas Carol's was a dark blue. She appeared to stand out. I can understand that at the age of I think 53 she does not want to be in a skimpy outfit but that dress did not do her any favours.

cupcake1 Sun 06-Sept-15 17:12:55

Did anyone notice the fake smile on pro dancer Kristina when she was teamed up with Jeremy? If the papers are to be believed that's probably the safest bet as the younger contestants wives/partners can now breathe a sigh of relief! SO glad she wasn't paired with Peter!

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 06-Sept-15 17:14:45

Okay Gagamarnie wink

I thought the colour suited Carol. The show usually sticks to the colours in a tin of Quality Street! Carol was probably the Peanut Cracknell! grin

It's definitely the case that some celebs are a bit more modest in how much flesh they want to show at the start. Plus, Carol is probably dancing Ballroom first and most of the others will be dancing Latin. The costumes are a big clue about that, so I would expect Carol, Jeremy and Daniel all to be dancing Ballroom and it will be the Waltz, the Viennese Waltz, Quick Step or Foxtrot. Of course, I could be completely wrong! grin

Teetime Sun 06-Sept-15 17:24:59

Carol's 53! Well I never would have thought that I would have put her in her 40s and as for losing weight she doesn't need to she looks great on BBC Breakfast much smarter than two of the other dogs breakfasts on there (not Louise who is lovely). Jamelia looks great. I watched the first group dance on Facebook as I couldn't stand any more of it last night yeah yeah same old same old!!! Yawn!!! its all too X Factor for me. Kristina will make Jeremy's hair curl - he might actually shut up for five minutes.

Gagagran Sun 06-Sept-15 17:41:14

Kristina is partnered with Daniel O'Donnell not Jeremy.

Charleygirl Sun 06-Sept-15 18:04:48

Yes, that is what I thought Gagagran. In the newspapers it said that it was because he was a devout Catholic and less likely to stray.

numberplease Sun 06-Sept-15 18:07:46

Well, it looks as if I`m on my own here. I rather liked Carol`s dress, especially the colour. And as for Claudia as presenter, she gets on my flipping nerves! She`s so pathetically childish and non funny, and now Tess is getting as bad. Bring back Brucie! Rant over, now for the backlash! lol

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 06-Sept-15 21:02:15

numberplease no backlash, but I used to stick up for Brucie when people moaned about him, but the last few years I thought he was just awful. He refuses to wear an ear piece so the producers can tell him what's happening with prompts, etc. and that's one of the reasons he appeared so bumbling. Tess used to have to listen on his behalf and keep him straight which can't be easy on a tight timed live show. He was still great with the contestants and I did laugh at his jokes, but Tess and Claude are a dream come true for me. I do realise though that both Tess and Claudia are Marmite people for many! grin

Charleygirl Sun 06-Sept-15 22:24:21

I could not stand Bruce and I loathe Claudia because she is so childish. I can almost tolerate Tess.

Anniebach Sun 06-Sept-15 23:02:05

Dislike both female presenters, didn't like Forsythe either

durhamjen Sun 06-Sept-15 23:10:09

Agree with you, Lona, didn't see enough of the North York Moors. We were on that train six weeks ago.

durhamjen Sun 06-Sept-15 23:11:59

Do any of you actually vote on it? So many of you seem to watch on catch up. It can't be possible to vote then, can it?
