A weird thing happened yesterday on the BBC site. Peter Andre was announced as the 6th celeb, but within about 10 minutes the page was withdrawn and Katie Derham was showing again. So at some point Peter will be announced as taking part.

I like Carol, will be amusing to see her switch from the cheery , sunny presenter into a smouldering seductress

She was saying on Breakfast TV that she's a hopeless dancer and has only ever done Scottish country dancing time will tell.

We need some younger names now.

I hear there's Gok Wan and the actor who plays Trixie in Call the Midwife.

Why don't they just give out the list of competitors? I'll have lost interest by the time they drip feed the last name. I suppose it all stems from the manufactured 'tension-building' delays in announcing who's going through to the next round. Drives me mad. #patienceonamonument

Oh dear - ghastly memories of New Year's Eve and The White Heather Club on the TV! Although I must confess I rather liked Jimy Shand's band - they used to produce a splendid relaxed 'bounce'...

Sorry Ana I didn't mean to ignore you. My excuse is that I already knew he was taking part and posted about it on Monday, when the BBC slipped up on the website. One minute he was announced as the next celeb with his 'Strictly' photo and blurb, the next he was gone. So I wasn't surprised at today's announcement. I should have acknowledged your post though, sorry.

I did Scottish Country Dancing at school. It doesn't mean I'd be any good at ballroom or Latin. Though she can presumably keep time.

I'd say Scottish country dancing might mean Carol has good posture and can count beats, but I don't think it's a kind of dancing that will be much help on Strictly.

I like Peter too, but he's by far the most Marmite celeb announced so far and is quite likely to be the one people rant over throughout the whole series!
