This Week's Corrie

I do like vicious. Although I'm not a big fan of Ian McKellan, I would happily watch Derek Jacobi cleaning his shoes for half an hour. I only saw him on stage twice - once as Becket to Robert Lindsay's Henry II, riveting stuff, and Prosperous in The Tempest.

when I know, I love the bitchiness of the two blokes, I have known many gay men who are like this, very quick witted, excellent. Oh, and one drag too who used to use the ladies and pinch eye liner, she was hilarious, she could cut you down with a look, brilliant.

I wasn't overly impressed first time round but because of my youngest son's enthusiasm for it I gave it a go and found it OK. I think it probably works best for younger generation - ie 30-40 years old = who think it is brilliant for 70+ .... Clever marketing. I too really rate Frances de la Tour over and above DJ and IMc. On the flip side I love DJ in Nightgarden!!!!!!

I wasn't too keen on what I saw of the last series of Visvcious, but the trailer for this one looks good so I'll give it a go.

rubylady yes, I watched Viscious last night. I will watch anything Frances de la Tour is in - I think she's marvellous. What a troupe of great actors all in one sit-com. Silly, but very enjoyable.

Forced to watch as DiL is an avid fan, now I know why I haven' t watched for years!
Will be glad to get back to 'normal' telly and radio!

It really is drivel, as if a fire would happen in a block of flats and no other residents even poke their heads out of the door.

It's all rather over dramatic, don't you think? How much can happen in a small street? Mind you, I suppose Albert Square is the same. (I don't watch "Eastenders")

I agree - good actresses all of them. "Maddie" will go on to bigger and better stuff - she was very believable in all her scenes - she has the ability to facially convey how she feels - and it was not an easy part to play going from really nasty bad girl to totally reformed character without losing integrity. I was relieved when she "kneed" Jenny - as I was becoming exasperated by her reformed character - thankfully the script writers realised this! Come back Kylie all is forgiven. Has Michael gone? Hope so. Can Gayle follow him? Hope so. Too much to ask???

Poor Sophie too, she really did look upset and so did Sally, for her.

Talking of Sir Ian McKellen, did anyone see Vicious tonight? Brilliant.

Wow Paddy McGuinness. He'll be brilliant. I remember Peter Kay being in it and, as usual, he was funny. You don't get people like that or Sir Ian McKellen in other soaps.

Where did they get the bolt cutters from to get into the builders yard?

I didn't like that Kal anyway but I do hope that Maddie comes round although I may have read somewhere that she is going out, which is a shame as this story line could have gone from strength to strength.

We are, however, getting Paddy McGuiness coming into the show in August. Yeah, up the Boltonians!

I did enjoy the humour when that woman visited Roy. Was she his mother? I cannot remember her name in Corrie or real life. I do remember that she was in Tenko which was on about 50 years ago!

The gentle banter is definitely missing- it is much preferred to these phoney story lines which must cost a fortune eg the fire.

Oh they will!! Iam64 I think that is probably a given - more's the pity. I don't want a comedy show from Corrie but a few less far fetched storylines and traumatic events and a bit more humourous exchanges (as in real life) would be good IMO.

Yes, Sally and Tim are becoming a good double act. They can't be the new Jack n Vera though, they're irreplaceable, though Tyrone n Fizz are another good double act. I so hope the writers don't cause problems in that relationship

I watch Corrie regularly but found this week's dramas very OTT - agree with virtually every post here. The only thing is I did see other people (flat owners) leaving the building - this was on the staircase while Leanne and Kal were going up I could swear I saw strangers coming down in a hurry - maybe I was mistaken and it was my mind playing tricks - anyone else notice? There weren't many of them only about half a dozen. Just thought I'd mention it. I like how Sally and whatshisname (window cleaner) seem to be panning out quite nicely into the new Jack and Vera - hope this continues. The humour is the best part by far.

I agree about the funny stuff being the best part about Corrie. Did anyone catch Sean describing Jason as a 'good-looking, virulent young man' in the gay pub?

Maybe CCTV will have caught Tracy entering the building? Hope so anyway. Baddies in Corrie generally get their comeuppance but Davids has taken ages! We may have to wait a long time for Tracy to get her just desserts.

Just watched the omnibus-what a load of tosh. The three standing on the balcony looking down at the crowd and Amy not able to get on the ladder was laughable, as was Leane saying "Yes" at the bottom of the ladder as Kal waited patiently for the explosion. Used to love Corrie for the quirky story lines and the amusing characters now it seems to lurch from one drama to the next when are the writers going to realise it's the funny stuff that makes Corrie different from the rest.

How will Tracey get her comeuppance ?

I think she'll say something about Amy flushing the toilet and it will show she was in the flat.

Amy has already said, innocently, she didn't get up after going to bed.

I don't enjoy the disasters on Corrie at all. It's the dynamics and banter between the characters that draw me to watch it. I agree with others - why no alarms going off, neighbours running out of their adjoining flats? Some of the plots are so ridiculous that Corrie quietly forgets them, like Michelle's son who was swapped at birth - neither son at the wedding but the whole street involved. I would happily watch Roy, the Platts and Steve forever, but am not impressed with scripts about wedding planning, nail treatments and feeble excuses for absence from the programme like Lloyd being stuck somewhere in the North Sea.
