I usually find PK quite funny and talented but I saw 5 minutes of this last night and switched over. I don't find spilling a urine sample on someone's shirt then drying it on the car heater remotely funny. I expect its only me who cant see the comedic value in this.confused

After all the hype and build-up I was looking forward to this, but what a let-down...it just seemed to drag on and on and was mostly unfunny IMO.

harrigran Thu 30-Apr-15 12:57:29

I found it disappointing, not a patch on his previous series.

jo1book Thu 30-Apr-15 13:00:19

I thought it was brilliant. Haven't laughed so much for ages.

tanith Thu 30-Apr-15 13:12:14

Nope it didn't do it for us either we turned it over after the first half.. and I like PK.

merlotgran Thu 30-Apr-15 13:14:41

Not funny. We turned it off.

Iam64 Thu 30-Apr-15 14:35:55

I was a bit disappointed as well. Maybe it will improve……
We saw the Peter Kay show at the MEN put on to raise money for children in need. We were there the day after one of the key performers had a heart attack during the first performance. We all hoped the fact the show was very patchy was down to the need to re-write over night, rather than that Peter is losing his touch.

It was on, but DH continued with his crossword and I got bored and played on line scrabble. Perhaps I'm turning sour in my old age.

I was quite disappointed too Teetime. There was potential and it was a good "idea" but the script was lame.

Gone off PK lately.

Greyduster Thu 30-Apr-15 16:16:21

I expected not to like this because I'm not a fan of Peter Kay, but I warmed to it once the scene about spilling the sample was out of the way. It even made me laugh out loud at times which very few sitcoms do these days.

henetha Thu 30-Apr-15 16:18:26

Never been a fan of PK anyway..... and after five minutes of this I switched it off.

gillybob Thu 30-Apr-15 16:19:55

The spilling of the sample wasn't funny at all was it Greyduster ? Just stupid. I think it could have been so much better.

KatyK Thu 30-Apr-15 16:48:18

I quite liked it. Maybe it will warm up a bit.

Coolgran65 Thu 30-Apr-15 16:49:42

Disappointed - and I quite like PK.
Stuck with it in the hope it would get better - it didn't.

Ana Thu 30-Apr-15 22:05:58

Watched tonight's episode as nothing else on and thought it much better - quite sweet in fact!

(Although it's hard to believe that a thirty-something woman wouldn't know what the term 'dogging' means...hmm)

merlotgran Thu 30-Apr-15 22:17:24

We gave it another chance tonight as well. Much better.

vampirequeen Thu 30-Apr-15 22:57:37

I loved it.

Might now watch recording of last night's PK 'comedy' .Always liked his humour, but didn't find Wednesday's very funny. Good to hear that yesterday's was better.

Peter Kay is my town's pride and treasure, we love him here. Along with Paddy McGuiness, Vernon Kay, Sir Ian McKellen , Amir Khan, Johnny Ball, Hylda Baker, Frank Finlay, Alan Ball, Sara Cox, Fred Dibnah, Marlon and Katie from Emmerdale, Bill Naughton. Bolton gets mentioned a lot on television.

I loved this, it has a very dry sense of humour, unlike shows like Going Out where the humour is quite obvious with another Northerner (Southport) Lee Mack. I watched it on iplayer and then I have recorded it too as I think it is one of those comedies where you find new things every time you watch it, like Peter's other work. It is also interesting to see where he has recorded it and the signs on the streets are not proper signs, they are placed there for the humour of the show.

Iam64 It was Ted Robbins who collapsed at the Manchester Arena, it was for Comic Relief, not Children In Need. They raised £5M. Not bad eh? smile

I didn't know who Peter Kay was and missed any trailers. I came across it by accident on iPlayer and enjoyed it. I found it very true to life and funny- and will watch the rest.

PRINTMISS Sat 02-May-15 07:42:18

I thought it was rubbish.

Iam64 Sat 02-May-15 08:33:45

rubylady - we must live not too far from each other. thanks for the correction, you're right the fundraising was for Comic Relief not CIN. I was a bit distracted yesterday…...

jo1book Sat 02-May-15 09:30:48

The critics are saying this is his best work since Phoenix Nights and the adventures of the wonderful Brian Potter! PK has a talent for highlighting, in an affectionate way, the foibles and quirks of human nature. A National Treasure.

cazthebookworm Sat 02-May-15 20:23:25

Watched both episodes on catch up tonight and enjoyed it. I thought it was rather sweet and she is very good, a newcomer apparently, never seen her before.

Tegan Sat 02-May-15 21:05:49

I've just watched two episodes and wasn't very impressed I'm afraid. It's very marmite; had a great review in the Independent today.
