I'm off to see this today. The trailer looked very good (Helen Mirren stars) but the critics panned it so it should be OK- will let you know.

Yes, we were going to go but the crits put us off, so I will be interested to have your opinion.

I'm glad I didn't see the reviews before going to see Woman in Gold which I did enjoy - although I managed a short nap, apparently at a crucial point. Helen Mirren's performance was convincing, as always. I won't go into the plot as I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone planning to see it. Never mind the critics - just make up your own minds.

You're right, anno. I sometimes wonder if the critics have seen the same thing or read the same book I have! I really liked this film and I think it's well worth seeing.

Is it suitable for DH? He is easily bored.

I now go on the premis that if critics slate a film/book I am bound to enjoy it and I am usually proved right.

I'm looking forward to seeing this film as to date, I always enjoy anything which Helen Mirren is in.

I didn't find it boring at all, NotTooOld. There is a lot of suspense. But it's quite emotional, with weeping.

We both really enjoyed the film more than we expected to. It was emotional but a really interesting story. Yes worth the trip and appeals to both men and women. Helen Mirren was very good.

Some times I think the so called Critic's are watching another film altogether.hmm Can someone tell me what credentials you need to become a critic I would love to know.

NotTooOld Tue 14-Apr-15 21:21:35

Oh, good. Sounds as if DH might consider it 'alright' - his highest form of praise as in 'How's your new grandson, DH?' 'He's alright.' A man of few words.

Glammanana - I don't know what qualifications you would need to be a film critic - maybe NVQ2 in Media Studies? He-he. It's probably one of those situations in which it's not WHAT you know but WHO you know.

Yes like a food critic- I'd like to be one of those too- free films and free food yes I am up to it.

I saw this last week and thoroughly enjoyed it, Helen Mirren is always worth watching.

Unusually for me I hadn't read any reviews before going to the cinema so I watched with a completely open mind. Cinema prices are quite high these days and sometimes the reviews put me off going although I much prefer watching films in the cinema rather than on the small screen. Perhaps I need to move to a house with a 'cinema room'. grin
