Terribull I must join you in enjoying Casual Vacancy. Not sure if the TV version will be as good, but always interesting to compare.

jo1book, agree with you regarding Spiral, best thing on tv at the moment, love it. When this current series is finished I'm going to order the first four through my dvd rental club, in the right order, so I can piece together the dynamics of the main characters' personal lives.

I will definitely be watching Casual Vacancy, I think I'm one of the few people on GN who found the book good it seems. I hadn't any preconceptions about J K Rowling's writing as I had no interest in delving into Harry Potter I just bought them for the kids when they were growing up. I have also enjoyed her Robert Galbraith books too.

We will record the Indian Summers drama and watch it in the week it looks promising and I will suggest to my husband we could watch that instead of the Midsummer Murders drivel he put on a couple of nights ago.

It's very, very good but suggest you watch from beginning to get it all. The new series is 5 so you four to have a go at.
Have you found the Channel 4 on DEMAND, drama section. They have some of the old classic serials such as Camomile Lawn and a Dance to the Music of Time.

will give that a go Jo thanks. We usually dig out a recorded Foyles War on a Saturday evening as that seems to be the only evening when we have the time to watch the 2 hrs of it. Have watched the last one now so will give Spiral a look.

You might like SPIRAL on BBC4. Subtitles, as in french, but cracking and does not pander to low intelligence.

I Hate Mr Selfridge, cant put my finger on why, just grates on my nerves. My plan is to watch A Casual Vacancy and record Indian Summers ( to watch later and able to skip through adverts.) We usually record a few programmes during the week as Saturday night Tv seems to pander to the lowest common denominator, all game shows and 'family inane crap entertainment'

I think Indian Summers is definitely one to record, as it's 1hr 40 mins long with adverts. An it's on for 10 weeks!

They've been showing trailers for Indian Summer for so long I thought I'd missed it so I'm relieved to find that I haven't. Can't recall Julie Walters ever appearing in anything that's been less than excellent.

I hadn't realized Indian Summers and The Casual Vacancy clashed. The trailers for both look interesting.

I was thinking along the lines of an early night and a good book. I do not fancy Saturday or Sunday night TV, or most of the other nights if I stop to think about it.

I'm looking forward to a marathon telly night. Call the Midwife followed by The Casual Vacancy then Indian Summers on +1.

I think we will watch BBC live and the other channels later, simply so that we can skip the ads.

I tried reading The Casual Vacancy but gave up after about 30 pages. Very disappointing especially as I had enjoyed her private detective books.

Like the sound of Indian Summers and the frocks should be good to see.

I am all for posh frocks and nice scenery.

Perhaps I will record the JKR offering (supposedly based on the town where she grew up so it will be nothing like it or the people who live there).

Thankful for i player and channel 4+1 if you can stay awake.
