The next series starts tonight at 9.00 on BBC1

Me too Merlot (the jumps - not the torn earlobe) and when I was old enough, ride around the countryside on my bike looking for horses to pat!

I like the name Calamity - she'd be Cal at school - perhaps it'll lead to glut of new baby girls with that name.

I watched it last night, loved it and found it very dark. Gary has mental health problems, or a personality disorder, whatever lies underneath it he's a paranoid control freak. I'd be so pleased to see Gillian and Robbie start a proper life together, but I'm with other posters, there'll be tears before bedtime.

The new nanny is very scary and if Caroline had been her usual self, she'd have spotted that instantly. Exhaustion, grief and terror can make the most intuitive/sensible folks miss the obvious.

Sally Wainwright is a brilliant writer and the cast is so good - loving it.

jane your spot on..I have a 10GB download limit, I seem to rem watching 2 episodes of "My Girl" and maybe 2 or 3 of "Last Tango " and it took me over my limit (cost me an axtra few £s on my next internet bill) (have learned since to try and rem to record onto my hard drive recorder) smile

Flora [baby] turns up in Bradford , forgotten by the nanny perhaps, she won't last long I think. Alan seems to be looking more and more bewildered as time goes on [hope it's not the script.]Celia is a right old bag.

Purpledaffodil Sat 24-Jan-15 08:25:36

In the preview bit at the end, they had the biological father of Flora looking after her. Suspect Nanny was removed or removed herself? Time will tell! Heck it's not real I must remind myself. blush

I'm sorry it's the last one next week. I think I could watch this for ever.

I'm even beginning to feel sorry for John hmm

Mishap Sun 25-Jan-15 22:13:28

How very very annoying it is that they broadcast a resume of the following week's episode after each one. I now have information that will spoil next week's episode. What possible justification can there be for that? What is the point?

merlotgran Sun 25-Jan-15 22:16:42

I agree angry

Ana Sun 25-Jan-15 22:25:05

I agree about the preview clips - why on earth do they do it? It would be OK if they just gave a tantalising hint, but we know more or less what's going to happen next week! hmm

I don't feel at all sorry for John, he's a selfish flake. And Gary's becoming rather sinister and threatening...

MrsPickle Sun 25-Jan-15 22:28:45

Yes, the wedding may not be happening...

Mishap Sun 25-Jan-15 22:31:26

"May" is the operative word - I think they are just teasing us. But how very annoying.

ninathenana Mon 26-Jan-15 00:06:19

Gary is becoming scarier by the minute.
Greg is to good to be true.
Gillian has been round the block more than once re the guy in the supermarket.
John is a total looser.
Celia is a witch.

I LOVE IT !

harrigran Mon 26-Jan-15 00:31:41

Gary is rather creepy, looks as if he wants to manipulate the whole family.

Eloethan Mon 26-Jan-15 00:34:06

I loved that scene where Alan was on the phone to Gary and Celia was mouthing instructions as to what he should say, and then even holding up notes.

I often make phone calls for my mum, and the difficulty of trying to conduct a conversation with someone in the background telling you what to say was, I thought, brilliantly done and very funny (though exasperating in reality).

rubylady Mon 26-Jan-15 04:01:55

rose We can be posh in t'north tha knows. smile

Whatever hormone Gillian's taking, I want some! She's certainly in a purple patch!

And I want a Greg to come and sort out my problems. I wonder if he is as good at painting and decorating as he is at changing a nappy?

I got home from going seeing my dad and found that it had not recorded on the freeview+ box so just watched on iplayer. Then listened to Desert Island Discs with Sally Wainwright, love her even more now.

She wrote for Coronation Street for 5 years so that is probably where she found Sarah Lancashire from, as their time on the street overlapped and she may have even wrote her the famous lines Raquel says to Ken on learning French je m'appelle Raquel voulez-vous cacher avec moi? Classic.

Soutra Mon 26-Jan-15 05:26:13

"Hide with me?" confused

Soutra Mon 26-Jan-15 05:28:20

"Trailers" for next week don't bother me a bit as I will have forgotten by then. But if they are repeated on a daily basis, they might spoil rather than whet my appetite.

Teetime Mon 26-Jan-15 08:51:58

I nodded of in last nights episode - I think its losing its appeal. the mystery is how Gillian is so attractive to men - she's so grumpy and grungy.

rosequartz Mon 26-Jan-15 10:02:27

rubylady did I say you weren't posh up north? confused wink

grumppa Mon 26-Jan-15 10:48:01

If the principal competition is the terrifying Caroline I can see the attraction of Gillian.

Teetime Mon 26-Jan-15 14:34:00

Your probably right grumpa hadn't thought of it like that.

rubylady Tue 27-Jan-15 00:54:40

I tweeted Tony Gardner who plays John yesterday and he tweeted me back, saying Thank you. (little dance) I don't normally get replies unless it's off the Mrs. Brown's lot. Now he is my favourite in the programme. Yeah!!! grin

rubylady Tue 27-Jan-15 00:59:12

rose "Sarah must have been a good actress to play Raquel as she is quite posh in real life" to me implied that she must have played it less posh. In fact on watching youtube again she seemed quite posh, clipped in her language, just a bit dizzy. Saying that I'm not posh at all but there are the odd ones around I'm sure, lol.

Sorry if I got the wrong end of a very sticky stick.

rosequartz Thu 29-Jan-15 19:15:35

Oh, I thought she was 'trying to be posh' when she was playing Raquel, so therefore a posh actress, playing a northerner trying to be posh.

But it was such a long time ago my memory is hazy smile

rosequartz Thu 29-Jan-15 19:18:58

She sounds right northern in this one!
