Annoying adverts

The Sky Broadband adverts are so stupid and irritating.

They are the ones where for instance one farmer says to another 'have you put on the horses shoes?' And then the camera pans down to the farmer's feet and he has the horses shoes on. They do some similar silly ones with a doctor and patient.

What adverts annoy you ?

I try not to watch adverts if I can help it I'd rather 'mute' the tv than watch all the rubbish they show.

You buy one, and you get one free, I say YOU BUY ONE AND YOU GET ONE FREE! You must have seen that shouty ad?
Any smug young families buying a sofa at DFS ads.
Any perfume ads, the Chanel are the worst, but they are all bad.
Ferrero Rocher ads.
The sickly Werther ad.

We often record programmes simply to be able to buzz through the ads when we watch them.

And as to Classic FM which I applaud for having spread the word about the joy of "classical" music - I get most irritated by their ads and feel they should vet them more closely. You might just have been transported by a piece of Mozart when a crass jingle-ridden advert will come crashing in. I cannot see why they do not specify some parameters for the presentation of the ads - they have such a huge following that they have the clout to call the tune.

I think I have got the wrong advertiser, it is Demand More whatever that may be. hmm

Kiora Wed 05-Nov-14 20:15:16

Yes. I hate the sickly werther add I want to slap her when she sucks the sweet. And as for Peter Andrea shopping in Iceland well words fail me. My worry is there are loads of adverts I hate and I swear or shout at the television. I remember my old dad doing that and it got on my nerves and now I'm doing it. Have any of you watched 'gogglebox'? people are shouting at the television. I could star in that I'm ashamed to say

merlotgran Wed 05-Nov-14 20:34:29

They should have a Gransnet version of Gogglebox. We could ALL be in that! grin

Ronnie Corbett in the Wiltshire Farm Foods advert. He is so silly and patronising.

Ana Wed 05-Nov-14 21:01:09

Len Goodman in the Farm Foods advert - ditto!

Lona Wed 05-Nov-14 21:04:38

That bathroom ad that's been on, "Trick or treat" in a very whiney child's voice. Thank goodness it's over now!

numberplease Thu 06-Nov-14 01:02:19

The NoNo ad drives me mad! It was especially annoying when it was on every single lunchtime without fail.

mollie65 Thu 06-Nov-14 06:21:34

the Nationwide BS 'we're on your side' with everything on fast-mo and the sickly voiceover. hmm
the TSB one runs it a close second grin

All adverts annoy me and I mostly watch recorded programmes so I can whizz through but specifically annoying are

- Oak Furniture Land and their awful 'gold for the price of silver in mock pirate accents and now they are dressing up as Elves!!!'
- adverts where its clearly an actor taking the part of a professional - as dentists on toothpaste ads for example.
- actors and presenters being themselves and endorsing products specifically Lorraine Kelly and some catalogue she is promoting.
- the worst of all is a group of women dancing around because they have a sanitary pad in place - gruesome!!

Lona Thu 06-Nov-14 09:35:45

The latest Go Compare ad is creepily suggestive and makes me cringe.

lefthanded Thu 06-Nov-14 09:45:07

Adverts? What Adverts? We rarely watch anything "live". Everything is recorded and then watched later so that we can skip all the adverts.

henetha Thu 06-Nov-14 09:48:36

Some adverts are so annoying that nothing on earth would pursuade me to buy that product! I usually leave the room to put kettle on/go loo/do housework/whatever, rather than watch them.

Nonu Thu 06-Nov-14 10:07:23

I ALWAYS mute the sound when adverts come on !

GreatauntieLinda Thu 06-Nov-14 10:57:55

Adverts which suggest dishonesty as being clever. The one at the moment is a cheese advert.

I prefer to record programs and fast forward through the adverts. They are such a waste of life. ITV 3 appears the worst for the length of time adverts are on and the number of breaks. They absolutely ruin Foyle's War. Five minutes of adverts and you have forgotten what you were watching.

glammanana Thu 06-Nov-14 11:05:55

I do wish that silly woman on "W- Hotels" ad would find her hubby Colin, she is enough to stop anyone going to stay at their Hotels sounds more like an endurance test to me."catch up Colin".
The ads that show dirty kitchen/bathroom tops & units who on earth lives in a house like that uurrh !!

feetlebaum Thu 06-Nov-14 11:25:44

@glammana - Lots of us do!

@rosesarered - I had a new front window put in - I was very pleased with it, and the operatives did a good job and cleaned up properly. Only then did I realise it was the 'You buy one, you get one free' company... I told them that if I had realised that before they wouldn't have got the job!

ninathenana Thu 06-Nov-14 11:41:15

Most of them !
I tend to flick over to a BBC channel during the adds. DH is amazed that most of the time I can judge exactly when to flick back to what we're watching grin
We can't record and watch later.

KatyK Thu 06-Nov-14 16:01:39

Those Aviva ones with Paul Whitehouse. Fortunately we too record most things and can fast forward the ads.

rosesarered Thu 06-Nov-14 18:05:24

feetle it wasn't the power of advertising then for you, if you didn't realise!Did you get one free? LOL.

Woodstock Thu 06-Nov-14 18:47:43

The one with Michael Parkinson trying to flog insurance plans to us apparently mentally infirm seniors - " You can't get this kind of cover for less". Talk about patronising!

nonnanna Fri 07-Nov-14 07:18:44

Fortunately we seldom catch any adverts but when we do they always seem to come on ten times louder than the programme we were watching. Do you think is a ploy so that you can hear them from the loo or whilst in the kitchen making a cuppa?
