Went to see this last night with DD and eldest DGD, beamed live from the West End to the local cinema. It was in 550 cinemas in the UK, including a special one set up in Easington where the story is set and also beamed across Europe and the rest of the world.
It was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was incredible. Was anyone else in the audience?

No Mamie, but I'd love to have been. The National Theatre at your local cinema evenings are a joy aren't they.

I have never experienced it before Iam, because we don't get them in our bit of France afaik. I am very envious of the fact that DD and the girls can go to the RBS performance of Manon in October.

Royal Ballet rather than Royal Ballet School, I meant.

Ah, sorry Mamie, I totally forgot you don't live in the UK!

Didn't see Billy Elliot but Medea was wonderful and booked to see the Nutcracker in December danced by the Bolshoi Ballet.

I just look on it as a treat for when I am in England, especially as DD is my companion of choice!

I've come to this thread a bit late. I went to see the Billy Elliot live streamed to our local cinema last Sunday. It was absolutely fantastic. I went with my DD and my DGD (who is a dancer). We all thought it was breathtaking.
